Render comes out black??

Hello all,

I am am pretty new to Daz3D and I’ve been doing some basic renders using the included tutorials.  When I select the video card only (almost 5 year old Gigabyte NVIDIA card), the scene does not render.  The window pops up, but it goes to all black.  This is when using the Iray selection for rendering. The docs on the card do say that it supports CUDA Technology.

The card is a Gigabyte GV-N6500C-2GI Rev 1.1

Thank you for any help.  I know that the card is older, and I will replace it once I am back to work from surgery.

  • It has to have a sufficiently recent chip set, not just support CUDA in general - I suspect yours doesn't. It may be worth checking to see if there's a driver update, assuimng that the render deos work on CPU (if not the issue is in the scene).

The render does work on CPU.  I believe you are correct about the card not supporting CUDA.  While I was out and about today I picked up another card, just a GeForce GTX 1060 with 3 gigs of ram.  Much better now.  A simple scene that was taking 5 minutes to render is  down to 30 seconds.  It is past time that I do a complete upgrade, but it will have to wait.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
