Finished rendering, but there's no target canvas window. (Solved)

I executed an 8 hour render. But the render target canvas window never appeared. I let the render complete the full 8 hours, hoping that the render target canvas would appear at the end. But it has not. Now I can't name and save the render.

Any advice?

I found that I can access the rendered image through a thing called the "Render Editor", which allows me to name and save the render.

BUT.

It seems that it will not save the transparency of the render's "null area". I was counting on the image having transparent "null areas" that I could fill with a background layer image in PhotoShop. But the render editor only saves the transparency areas as black, which won't allow any background layer image to appear there. This is so EVEN IF I SAVE IT AS A .png.
