Install Manager Download Filter Confusion

I presently have the DAZ IM set to NOT display poser content in the Download tab. However, I constantly see "duplicates" for many products which I am interpreting to be poser versions of the install. For example: if I have Miss Kitty's DS, I also see Miss KItty's Ps. They are close to the same file size, so it's unlikely that one is Companion Files for the other. Should I be installing the Ps versions as well? Am I not fully installing the product if I don't? I'd rather not clog my runtime with things I don't need, but DIM seems to think this is not poser content (based on my filtering) and it should be installed.

Any clarification with this would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

You should only need to install the DS version. The DS can only be installed into DS but the Ps can be installed into DS or Poser which is why they both show up with your filters on.

On the other hand I may be confused. I'm trying to get a confirmation

Thanx for looking into this. I'll keep my eye on the thread. For now I'll just keep using the Hide mechanism

Some of the earlier products have not been repackaged for DIM - the old packages were converted. So at first glance, the Poser and DS versions look identical. But if you look carefully, you'll find that the .obj is only in the Poser version. Early Jack Tomalin/Red House Studios are like this. Net result is that you need to install both versions for DS.

Do you have more than one version of DS selected in the download filters? Some products have versions for newer versions of DS, while older versions of DS need to use the Poser version.

It does get confusing. I have DIM set to give me both and pretty much if it's not DSON I install the Poser version in a separate runtime. But not always. After so many years of never looking into the Runtime installed inside Studio, I forget I have stuff in there.

I have a separate Runtime for Gen 4 figures but when something is for both Genesis and V4 (like a hair) with a Studio Genesis file and a V4 Poser one I either ignore the V4 version or install it into My Library which of course puts it in the Runtime there. I do this so as not to duplicate the texture files. Then I forget I have the V4 version because it's not in my Hair runtime.

DIM has made the process of purchase/download/install so much faster but there are still decisions to be made especially if you have a lot of content and much of it is older.
