Error applying G8 material to G3

I'm trying yo apply a G8 Thistle Texture to G3 Bucky (from Rendo) but I keep getting this error:
An error occurred while reading the file, see log for details

If I apply the textures to G8 and transfer tham one at a time, they look fine.
I can apply G3 textures to G8 with no problem.
Is there something I can do to convert these files?

Hierarchical presets must be applied to the correct base figure. Once applied to Genesis 8 Female, you can save a regular Materials preset whch will work with other figures with the correct surface names (as Genesis 3 Female has).
Does a hierarchical preset mean that it is for a scene that contains several items like Thistle, the tail, the whiskers etc.?
Thanks for the info
In this case, I would expect so - a Hierarchical preset applies to some or all items parented to the base figure, and may also affect the base figure (it has to be a figure at the root for a hierarchical preset to save)
With a lot of G8F characters the problem is simply that it's a preset intended for G8F and the G8F eyelashes (lashes are a separate item for G8), which would cause the problem when used on G3F.
