Which programme? Daz Studio has always had a free version, and has never been non-commcerial only (the content does have restrictions on use, commercial or otherwise, beyond 2D images and animations).
I once downloaded this program and it was free for personal use and if you want to use it commercial games you need to pay. Is this still true or not?
DS studio is free to use, BUT if you want to use the content made for Daz Studio in a game, then you need to pay a license for each item of content used.
It's a 3D Modeller. If you want to make content for DS with it nothing's keeping you from that. If you want to use it for something else, nothing's keeping you from that either.
Is that Hexagon software for making new models to DAZ or what?
Yes, hexagon will work as well as Blender, or Maya, any modeling app can create content for Daz Studio. Creating the mesh in a modeling app is just one part of creating content for DS, it will also need to be textured and rigged (done inside DS). There are tutorials on the web and tutorials you can purchase in the store with more info.
OK. Where I can get info about those licensing fees?
each item in the store comes with an interactive license, this is what you need for each item you wish to use in a game engine
The phrase "comes with" is not synonymous with the phrase "provides the option of"... The Interactive License is not included in the price of said product; said license must be purchased *in addition to* said product.

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread (if so, I apologize), but if I were going to look at using 3D models for interactive content (particularly games), Daz3d.com and DazStudio are not the first places I would go. I definitely don't mean to put down DazStduio, it's just that the interactive licenses are a bit pricey for the hobbiest game developer. I would hit the Unity store and start hunting for free content there, or over at a dozen other sites that focus on FBX format resrouces.
But to get back on topic, yes, Hexagon is a fantastic tool for modeling objects and clothing. It's definitely worth the investment of time.

Correct, should have phrased if differently.
