Upgrading to RTX 2080 Question

Hi
i have a slow 1050ti card that i will replace with the not so slow RTX 2080 ;)
i will get the 2080 later this week
one question.
i read somewhere that you need to use the latest beta build for the RTX cards
is that true?
and also can i just update the current 4.10 version or do i need to install the beta from scratch?
thanks
Comments
You need to use 4.11 currently beta, although that will change at some point.
You are likely going to need to upgrade your Nvidia drivers too.
Thanks just what i thought.
about user data
can i just backup my user data from ver 4.10 and load them in 4.11 ?
There are a couple of scripts to help:
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/save_mapped_paths/start Download and drag into the Viewport of 4.10, it will prompt you to save a script which you then drag into the Viewport of 4.11 to set its content directories to match 4.10's
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/general_ui/copy_ui_from_channel/start drag into the 4.11 Viewport and choose to copy the release channel to make the 4.11 layout match the one you use in 4.10.
Thanks!
just what i needed
Btw why not just add an UPDATE with current fixes for the RTX cards to the 4.10 build?
a hell alot easier.
i have never seen anything like this
that you need a complete new version and start from scratch when you get a new graphics card.
You do not need to start from scratch. The beta can be installed right beside 4.10 and it just uses the same path to all the installed contant. I've got installed and just use 4.11. I'm too lazy to uninstall 4.10.
i still dont get it and where is the staff here that can answer ;)?
why go through dodgy? 3rd party home made scripts when you can just add a damn update to support the latest and greatest graphics cards ?
so whats the problem?
the 2080 has arrived btw but with this crap i still think i will be using the 1050ti until there is a proper "official" update
