Even more morph problems
Since I keep having V4 randomly explode on me if I use GOZ, I've been trying to use Morph Loader Pro, and I'm still having no luck.
I export the morph as an .obj file I import it DAZ using default values, and I get no errors. However it also doesn't create the morph.
So looking at this thread
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/5351/
I came across this procedure for converting V4 characters to Genesis.
1) Clear the scene, then load V4
2) Inject desired character face/body morph
3) Export as OBJ
4) Clear scene (File>New)
5) Load V4
6) Convert to TriAx Weight Map (under Scene tab > Edit > Rigging)
7) Building|Scripting tab > Morphloader Pro (icon) > select OBJ (created in #3)
8) Dial in Character morph(which was created in prev step)
9) Load Genesis
10) Dial in Genesis corresponding shape (i.e. A3/v3/v4/a4/etc., this is a purchased item)
11) Run Figure Transfer Utility (Scene > Assets > Transfer Utility)
- source= V4 (use default), target = Genesis (Clone->matching figure). Show options, under morph targets, check source morphs…then un-check fit to source figure (you can pretty much uncheck everything else as well)
12) When complete, Dial In the new Imported morph in Genesis (Parameters Tab, Morphloader section)
13) Dial in any other needed morphs to make the character look right
14) File -> Save As -> Support Asset -> DSF Morph File; making sure to check only the new morph and any other required morphs done in #13
15) Reload Genesis and the Morphs should be there. Note that this will give you one dial to make the morph.
However the 7th step doesn't work. As soon as I import the .obj file it states that the geometry doesn't match, and the morph cannot be created. Which is pretty weird since the character I'm trying to transfer has been loaded from exactly the same .cr2 file that the one I'm trying to make the morph in has been.
I'm going to try a few more things, but I'm wondering if anybody else has had any luck converting their characters? Because frankly I've got way too much invested in V4 to abandon her.
Comments
Update: It turns out that I actually had used a different .cr2 file in order to load it. In the end I loaded the old figure, took a shaping preset of it, then loaded a new v4 from the right file, and it took the morph with no problem. Now I'm having another issue though, and I'm gonna start a new thread for it.
Thanks all.

Now my question is: Can I use the same procedure to transfer my v4 characters to Genesis 2? Does the procedure need to be altered in any way?
EDIT:
Hell... does this even work with Genesis? I'm having no luck with it regardless of the generation. The Figure Transfer Utility seems to do nothing at all.
Since these posts are on the same basic procedure the threads have been merged.
To understand what is going on you need to know a bit about how DS4 deals with Poser figures, if you load V4 using her CR2 and make sure she is selected, then in the Parameters tab open it's options menu and put a check next to "Show hidden properties". Now look at the groups listed in the Parameters tab, you will see one called "Morphs" and if you expand it you will see one called "Imported", and under it you will get a whole pile of things like abdomen, chest, head etc. This is where the morph deltas are stored in DS4, which is different to how it is in DS1 - 3 and Poser, as they store them in the body part rather than the body.
Now I don't have zbrush so I haven't used GoZ, but I do have Hex and have used morphloader way too many times of late, so I have run into similar issues as you.
For me when Morphloader goes through the motions but doesn't create a morph, that means that the OBJ doesn't have any mesh groups or none that match the figures, as a result MLP has no idea where under "Morphs > Imported" the deltas need to be put, as a result it looks like it's working but leaves you with nothing once it's finished.
Exploding usually means the vertice order has been changed, usually happens in the modeling program, as a result the delta data is moving the wrong vertices.
Well I got the morph imported to the base figure, and dialed in. Now I'm to the part where I'm trying to transfer that shape to the Genesis 2 mesh. The instructions for which are.
Dial in Genesis corresponding shape (i.e. A3/v3/v4/a4/etc., this is a purchased item) In this case I've got Genesis 2 with the purchased v4 shape.
Run Figure Transfer Utility (Scene > Assets > Transfer Utility)
- source= V4 (use default), target = Genesis (Clone->matching figure). Show options, under morph targets, check source morphs…then un-check fit to source figure
It's the running of the Figure Transfer Utility that doesn't seem to be doing anything. Part of the problem is that I don't even know if this SHOULD work.
I mean I would think that genesis 2 can do what genesis could, but that's a pretty big assumption.
Any clue as to if this is even possible? I've got way too much invested in V4 to abandon her, but it's clear that DAZ has. So I need to get moving on this whole Genesis thing.
I just realized that there are about a million threads on this already. If anybody can help I'd appreciate it, but I intend to read those threads as well.
Very simple, create the Morph with the G2F mesh figure to start with. Then it is a G2 Morph from the word go.
Explain to me like I'm five.
As far as I know I can't just use the v4 mesh to update the g2f mesh with a morph. Maybe you know a way, but it's not obvious if there is one.
And since the whole point is preserving the characters I've already made in v4 "just make the morph with the G2F figure to begin with" doesn't seem like it's going to do the job.
Sorry if I'm not understanding something simple here.
I'm sorry I missed the GOAL was converting ONLY V4 characters to G2F. I was thinking the goal was only a G2F morph to be used on the G2F V4 shape from this http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female.
EDIT: Which would been done on the G2F mesh.
