When I click something on for a character, like an outfit or a pose, either nothing happens, or I get an error message.

Be sure you have the figure selected (check the Scene Tab) when applying the pose or adding an item of clothing.  Be sure you are adding the actual clothing and not 'just' the texture of the clothing to the figure (that may account for the error message).

You must have the figure selected to apply poses.

If you re getting an error when loading clothing the chance is that you are loading a texture set not te clothing item itself.

Make sure you have the figure or object selected before applying a preset to it.

How do I know which is just the texture and which is the clothing itself?

OK, never mind; I got that figured out, and I managed to get the whole outfit on. Only when I click on the textures, nothing happens. When I click on a pose, nothing happens. I've selected the figure first, but no go.

Materials for the clothes require that the clothing item be selected, unless the tag at top-right is H Materials (Hierarchical Materials preset) where the preset will apply to all of the potetnial target items that are parented to the main figure (these don't work if the items are parented to a different figure, however). Poses are the same - unless it's tagged H Pose you need the target item (usually a base figure - Genesis #) selected.

I did select the figure and the clothes, but it's still not working.
