How to put a white pattern over dark metallic flakes and gloss?

Hi there, I'm currently making a scene that uses a dark red satin shader from this set https://www.daz3d.com/essential-iray-shaders
I love the dark red shine, and I want to put white stars on top of it to comform with the prop.
Normally I could alter the base image to inculde the white stars, change it, and we're good to go.
However, the stars do not display, because the shader colors dark red metallic flakes, and uses a black colored gloss to give it's dark shine, in turn coloring over the white stars.
I'm not entirely sure if it's the metallic flakes or the gloss color causing it, but I'd like to keep that nice dark shine with the white stars showing on top.
Does anyone have advice? Thank you.

Maybe try adding the stars as a "layer" on a geoshell and not directly on the prop?
Geoshell will work. Alternately, you can add maps to metallic flakes and gloss. Make a picture with white stars on a dark red background, and white stars on a dark (black? whatever the current gloss colour is) background. The white stars on both those maps have to align. Apply those maps to metallic flakes and gloss, respectively.
Oh, yes, Geoshells, I forgot. Thank you! And thanks for that other suggestion Hylas, I get what you mean. Much appreciated!
