Hero FX always dim

Hey everyone, I've been trying all day to make the hero effects brighter to match teh lighting I have for my point light, but it never seems to affect anything. Has anyone used this an altered it in ANY way? I can't change the colors at all, I can't make them appear brighter. all I can do is tranlate them and scale them. Diffuse color, ambient color, specular color, glossiness, etc, nothing alters this in any way.

I have daz 4.10 for what it's's worth

These things are WAY brigher in the pictures and I'm out of ideas.
