Well..Ok, I am not retiring, but a bunch of my really old products are.

Lets face it, these are so old that they really do not come close to todays standards, so lets make room for bigger and better.

The following sets will be gone at the end of this month:

nah....they havnt sold in ages....just gonna dump them.
It's not about cashing in on their retirement, its just about letting people know they are going.

What if you put them up as freebies on something like sharecg. That way, those who still use the older stuff can still make use of them. There are many people out there who still use the Gen3 models who would love these.

I do appreciate the interest....but there is a lifespan to these things, and these have lived beyond thiers.
When they are gone, they will be gone.

I'm another voice that would really like the sale on those things. If they retire, fine (although I don't see the reason) but not having a last chance on getting them is quite disappointing, especially because The Display Room goes on deep sale right now and some people will pick it up. People asked in Stonemason's thread if Shin Tokai can be put on sale too, because it is a set of complimentary textures to the Display Room (which is retiring), and I'm pretty sure this is not what they'd expected - now, if they want Shin Tokai to compliment The Display Room, they will have even more pressure to get it before it is gone (which is a big impulse by itself), with an additional pressure of paying full price. Is that a cash-in too? I don't really know, but I think 'last goodbye sale' would be more appreciated in any way possible.

I would have picked up both Urban Samurai and Shin Tokan if they were on decent sale (considering how old those products are) and to give a vendor a couple of dollars, but like that? Even knowing they are going to vanish forever I can't pay that much.

Any plans to bring Draguul/Man-Bat to M4 and/or Genesis? I've looked at them quite a few times in the past, but I've never used M3. Would love to see updated versions of those.

that was one of the first things I wanted to do with genesis.
I ran into some technical issues back then....but may be able to figure it out now........just have to get it in the schedule ;)

Saw the title and thought oh no, one of my favorite artists is retiring! can my day get any --- do not think that!

Glad you are not retiring. It looks like it is mostly Gen 3 stuff or V4. Wish some of the stuff can be updated to newer figures.

Hmmm, I never got the dragon of burden textures because I never got the dragon of burden, which I kept waiting for a good sale and then forgot about it.

Minor request to all PAs to make announcements of retiring products BEFORE the annual PA sale. That would probably work out better for customers and PAs.

after the pa sale lets US know what is still selling and what isnt.
If something doesnt sell for 50% off four or five years after its release...then its likely not to sell at all anymore.

So the sale is a good benchmark to decide what to let go.

Good point. Thanks for the explanation.

In my case (and this is just me, can't speak for others), I divide things into 2 categories: Things I need and Things I want. The "want" stuff can linger for quite some time while I purchase the stuff I need.

yeah....but if you dont really want it after 4 years...you probably really dont want it, and it is time to wait for a better more modern version LOL

Well, as long as there's going to be " a better more modern version " :-)

Personally, Reptrolls has been on my wishlist for ages, as Ive just waiting for an opportunity to purchase it along with other products, and as such, it has fell on the "Ill get it later" bucket. I for one would REALLY appreciate a "Clearance Sale" on the products you plan on retiring.

Would make me and my Troll *VERY* happy! Please consider doing so!

I just about freaked when I saw the title of this thread!

But looking ahead is always better and I have to admit your Genesis creatures have been stocking up in my runtime giving me the real inspiration to invest in the Genesis figure itself. And to see some of your older sets updated for the Genesis figure would be a real treat as well.

Thank you for the heads up on retiring these items so that we can pick out what we want before they are gone for good.

Since they'll be gone after the end of the month (Halloween), how about a RawArt Halloween contest with the prize consisting of all the retiring stuff?

This is textures for Stonemason's Display Room which I think is going away as well. I've used these as recently as a month ago. The only problem I found with shin-tokai is the difficulty in discerning which thumbnail is which and they're named like scene 1, scene 2, scene 3. Bad, Raw. Bad Bad Raw. ;)

btw, I like using older stuff. Just because we have more memory and can deal with more polygons and higher res textures doesn't mean older things aren't still useful depending on the type of scenes being created. One nice thing about getting a new machine is revisiting older scenes and finding they render faster and are quicker to manipulate than they were on the old. It's always a bit disappointing that new stuff on new machines often makes you feel the same as you did using old stuff on old machines.

Progress, gotta love it. I still sometimes use Michael 3. Yep. And my favorite guy is still Michael 4 even though I'm deep into Genesis and G2F. The Vampire Clan (which I don't have--I'm not into vampires and blood is all) is for m3 and Freak 3. I still prefer Freak 3 over later ones because Freak 3 can more easily be portrayed as a gentle giant whereas the new ones are better used as sweaty musclemen it seems.

Ok, that's my rant for the day. ;) I love your work Raw. Keep at it.

Some of these are in the Halloween Havoc sale 50% off and if you have the Tier 2 Week 2 Coupon for 44% off Rawart is in the list of PAs that works for and its good until 10/24 ( and it works on top of the 50% off). Glad I picked up a few of these .... still cool products
