Custom set up to hide not used controls and putting items in Smart Content

Hello All,

I am new to Daz Studio having signed up the week before Christmas last year (2018).   In the past two months alone I had already spent a small fortune (something I really didn't want to do, BUT as many can tell you, you get 'sucked in').  As it stands, I have over 500 morphs in the facial areas alone for female and nearly 400 for male.  There are many controls I do not see a use for and I want to shorten the list to make it faster to go through the controls I do use.  Is there a way to have Daz start up with controls hidden?  I tried to hide them within a session, but upon shut down and startup of Daz, all the controls are back.  So I want to know if I can create a custom start up in which only my favorite morphs show up.  And naturally if I want to go back to the original start up with all the morphs, I can do that at my option.

Next, I have noticed quite a bit of incondistancies in how items are put into the Smart Content folders.  I would like to know how to move something into that folder when I do a search.  As it is, I have a number of Genesis 2 and 3 clothing items of which I use on my Genesis 8 figures.  I would like to know how to make them show up when a Genesis 8 character is selected that they show up.  Also, I would like to rename some of the items.   I recently bought a Tiara bundle that doesn't show up in smart content and I keep forgetting that it is called EJ Tiara and if you just type Tiara in the search, nothing shows up.  So I would like to remove the 'EJ' from the name.  Conversly, it is possible to change the search engine to go from exact to using a keyword?  This way just typing in Tiara will yeild a search result?

Thank you

A scene, scene subset, or character preset should save the hidden/shown status of sliders (and also favourite status - the heart icon on the slider) Set one up as you like, then use that to load the figure.

If you have the Genesis 8 figure loaded adn selected, then drag the content from the Content Library into the desired category in Samrt Content>Files tab you will be asked if you want to mark it compatible with the figure - accept that and in future it will show in Smart Content as desired.

Ok, so it saves it with a character, but I am curious if I could create some kind of 'preset' that is NOT dependent on the character.  So in other words, if I load up a given character or even a fresh instance of a Genesis base, all I have to do next is to click on this 'preset' and all the controls I like only come up.   Could Daz be set to initialize in this manner?  Such as a preference that could be turned on/off?

Hmmmm, I have to try that out.  But what of renaming something.  As in the tiara example above.  It already shows up in smart content, but it is hard to remember 'EJ Tiara'.  I would rather rename this to just 'Tiara'.  Is that possible?

    Thanks!

The file you use to load the base Genesis is a Character preset - and that's what I meant, modify the base, save as a prset, and use the preset to load the figure (then aply the settings for other characters you want to use to that loaded figure).

You'd need to save a new Character preset for the item under your desired name and then optionally categorise it.

I know it has been a while since I been in this thread, this part I got and tried it out with a few characters saving their body types for future use.  But I have to create a main Genesis 8 preset that hides the slider options I don't want and saves the favored settings.  But I know what to do there now.be asked if you want to mark it compatible with the figure - accept that and in future it will show in Smart Content as desired.

I managed to relable the folder in the Content Library, removing the 'EJ' in front of it.  But for the Smart Content tab, the individual tiaras still come up under the EJ name and there is no rename option for them there.  Would I have to navigate to the folder to where they are via Windows Explorer?   Would that be a OK or a dangerous idea?  I don't want to rename the files to something and then it 'breaks' something.

    Thanks!

Don't rename the existing files, just ignore them and use your presets instead.

So what would I do, put the tiara on a character and then resave it as a preset with the desired name?  Can I also put this into Smart Content so it wouls show up whenever I click on a Gen 8 female character?

Yes. I think a Wearables preset (which is what I'd suggest using) is added to Smart Content autmatically but if not you can drag the icon from the Content Library into Smart Content, in the category you want to use, with the base figure loaded and selected in the scene.

I took a peek and no, a Wearable preset doesn't get created in Smart Content.  It is under Saved though, but I would like to move that content to the Smart Content under Wearables.  I tried to drag one of my custom Wearable presets to the Smart Content tab, but it didn't do anything.  I got the line through the circle icon indicating I couldn't do it.  If you right click on the icon there is a Catagorization option there and I clicked on that.  From there it looked like it was allowing me to put it in another place.  So this made sense to me.  However, when I selected the wearables category and accepted it, I went to the Smart Content and to the Wearables tab and is wasn't there.

Categortisation is where the item is listed, but Smart Content is populated only with items that are compatible with the selected item. Did you do the drag-and-drop with the base figure loaded and selected?

Ahhh, that might have been the problem.   I just dragged the preset over to the Smart Content tab and thought it would move that way.  I guess I will try it with a figure loaded and see what happens.

    thanks!
