Why do i now have a strange user name?

I have recently come back to 3d art after a very long absence.  Just noticed my user name now has numbers after it.  I was just Elgyfu for so many years, what happened and can I change it?

    Follow the instructions in this thread to change your username.

    The user names changed when they did an update and linked the Galleries and forums, so that people only had one user name, and that was the one on the Gallery.  If you didn't have a gallery you were allocated a username based on your email address.  As many of these were repetitive (there were umpteen info@ type for a start)  the software was the programmed to add the alphabetti spaghetti bit to make each name unique.

    As Barb says   you can change the name yourself

    Thank you. I am pretty sure I am the only Elgyfu in the world (it is my middle name), so happy to be tidy again. Thanks for the help.
