dark teeth problem

Hello. I have such a problem when rendering teeth. Occurs very often after applying different Expressions
I looked on the Internet, as it turns out that I’m not the only one who faces this problem, but I haven’t found an answer to the solution. Does not depend on lighting. Spotlight can be sent directly to the teeth, but they are still dark. After the problem appears, resetting the shape to 0 does not change anything. Figure - Genesis 3

Try this post that talks about some surface settings for teeth in Iray...

I've used it with some pretty good success.

  • When all else fails, I click on the Surface Selection tools, then the teeth, and then go into the Iray Shaders, and in Ceramics, I select Porcelain and apply it. I then adjust the Diffuse Color as needed in the Surfaces tab since using it's default Diffuse Color would be way too bright. For one of my characters, I used 165 164 149 (or 0.38 0.38 0.31) as the Diffuse Color. It still looks a bit bright, but its a LOT better than the alternative. Whenever I load a character and see dark teeth in the viewport upon using an open smile or parting the lips, its usually an indication that there may be an issue with how the teeth will render.

  • I apologize. I managed to solve the problem. It turned out that Expressions is nothing to do with. The problem is in the texture settings of some models.
    Maybe someone will help.

Image 2: Spotligt is aimed at the face, Render: Scene only settings. Teeth Surface Settings: Reflection weight 1.0
    (this is the problem).

Image 3. Spotligt is aimed at the face, Render: Scene only settings. Teeth surface settings: Reflection weight 0.73

Image 4. Spotligt is aimed at the face, Render: Scene only settings. Teeth surface settings: Reflection weight 0

The problem of rendering teeth is the setting of the parameter Reflection weight, which in some models is set to 1.0 by default.
