Can't figure out why CPU being used, going crazy

Hello fellas. I scoured the forums and google, but cannot find an answer. My problem is that my GPU (GTX 1070) has about 5GB of RAM used (this happens when a render starts), but when I begin the render, as soon as the image loads up in the Render window, my CPU spikes to 100% for the render. Why is it doing that? I have tried quality set to "1", 512 Texture compression, and 1080p up to 4K, all the same thing.
My normal RAM is barely half used, and the GPU never goes to its full 8GB (or, in most cases, 7.8GB) of VRAM. Why is it preferring to use the CPU?

Check which version of the drivers you have installed, there was a problem with recent ones which caused Iray to ignore GPU using it.
Is there a particular version I should or ignore? I installed the latest driver as I picked up the 1070 last week. Driver was installed maybe 5 days ago directly from nVidia.
That's your problem. Download the newest driver that dropped today which Nvidia says fixes the problem.
Perfect, thank you so much for the help!
Side question, I am getting mixed responses from across google but--does Daz take advantage of dual-GPU's for combined VRAM, or does it just use the card with the most available VRAM for a render?
Neither. Iray will use any GPU with enought RAM to hold the whole scene, but each makes a separate contribution to the process - so they pool computing (with an overhead) but not VRAM.
Just want to follow up with excitement as it is WORKING! That feels good. 2000x2000 4k image with two characters. Not even breaking a sweat!
Attached is a pic of it working. Forgot to on the last post.
