Hey, folks! I'm... relatively new here. I've had Daz and an account for quite awhile, but I haven't really done much until recently, designing a costume around the Genesis figure. Everything's a work in progress, perpetually, haha.

    Very nice work there. Usually a complex texture like that on the shirt would be done with a bump or displacement map. To actually model it into the mesh must have been incredibly time consuming. Well done.

    Thank you, on both counts! I actually did all but the chain shirt as really low res (like in the tens of polygons) box models in Hexagon first, since it's so easy to send models between it and Daz, and it helps make sure everything stays to the right scale. From Daz, I send the box models to Zbrush. I also use 3dsmax if I need to do anything really precise, technical, or I feel like using one of its modifiers, but so far on this project all I've really used max for are test renders in mentalray.

    Thanks! To be fair, what you're seeing in the zbrush shots is a projected alpha, so it's not actual geometry, and it'll be part of the chain shirt's displacement map when it's done. I did spend a decent amount of time making the alpha, but not nearly so long as it would take to model it in, haha!

    Nice work on the vest. Looking good, I keep seeing a pair of eyes, or is that an extra bellybutton. He he.

    I too noticed the boots right off, and love how the outfit all comes together- nice flowing lines. And your avatar is neat too, second that! Good luck with your project and let us see future tweaks :)

    Aw, thanks! And I will absolutely keep this thread updated with what I'm doing. Actually working on adding pauldron this morning :)
