Okay, I'm getting tired and here I am with yet another "newby" question...
Pretty certain that this is a one button fix (i hope) but for the life of me I cannot get the default lighting to GO AWAY in the render.
Found headlamp, turned it to never, have 3 lights. and 1 camera. (camera was added due to a tutorial that says the headlamps cannot be controlled in any of the default view camera... um, okay. Turned headlamp off in camera and attempted render, same $@%@#@ results... no change really at all.
So, the question is How do I turn off this lighting... I want a 3 meg completely black image if I do not add some sort of light to the scene. I've got through 8 different tutorials and they all pretty much say "add a light and the default lighting turns off automatically." They are correct. The attached image 1 is from the scene pre-render, image 2 is durring the render.
I want the render version of Image 1...
Thank you.

Okay... Found that resolution.
Render Tab> Editor> Environment> Environment Mode> SCENE ONLY
Only took 5 hours to figure that one out![cheeky cheeky](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
i suggest you to use always a "camera" and always render via camera !
if you use only a camera with no light scene
- uncheck on general render setting "auto headlamp" from "WHEN NO LIGHTS" to "NEVER"
you can control the camera light preview intensity of the "headlamp mode" ON (instead of auto)
personnaly to skin a new character i use camera headlamp mode "ON" and "headlamp intensity" to "2.5"
I think you're mixing two terms here. There's a Perspective View, which is the default if your new scenes don't open with a camera already in them, and there's a Default Camera, which is what you get when you do set up new scenes to open with a camera. Views and Cameras are different; in a View you have less controls (yes, including the Headlamp control), whereas a Camera has all the controls.
You do this camera setup in Edit>Preferences>Scene and click the "Create a Default Camera" tickbox at the top.
Note another difference which many people consider important; the Perspective View setting is not saved when you save a scene, while all the Camera settings are saved. If you move the View around until it looks just right, then save the scene, when you re-open it, the View is returned to its starting default position.
Yep, thanks folks, I think I got this part figured out, the issue was the Environment Mode lighting, once I changed it to never I got a completely black render (no lights) started turning lights I had added back on and it looks just like I thought it should.
