Can't Update Install Manager or Download Packages

Hi. Newbie here (obviously).

When I intstall the Studio, it says there is an update, and to either choose that or work offline. When I click to update, I get an old Mac OS9 spinning graphic (as opposed to X's beachball) and an error that it cannot download the update. So I dismiss that dialogue. When I try to download the packages from the Install Manager then (basic hair, etc.), clicking the all box and Start Queue, I just get a big cascading 'download failed.' 

So far, that's as far as I can get with Daz. I'm running 10.12.6 Any help appreciated!
