Issues seen under OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)

Under the new OS X release, DS Pro 4.6.1.17 (64-bit) seems totally incapable of remembering what the current folder is for file operations. Every time I open something, merge something, save out something new, etc., the working directory is always my Documents folder, never the last folder I used for that operation. Having to navigate back to my work folder every single time is a major irritant. Is anyone else seeing this?

This is not a problem between DS and Mavericks. It is an OS X problem which I get all the time since Lion. I just use Default Folder X to get a better Save dialog box. Give it a try. I think you will like it.

I've been running DS for a long time, on two separate Macs, and DS had no problem remembering the last folder used, until I applied the Mavericks upgrades. Now it's identically broken on both. I do not have this problem with other applications. I would not be surprised if DS is doing something weird in the way it interacts with the document API.

Also, I note that Daz Studio records *many* separate paths for different types of file operations in its preferences. For example, the directory for opening or saving scenes is different from the one which DS remembers for, say, exporting OBJ files.

    ExportDir
    /Volumes/etc/wip-6/obj
    ...
    LoadSaveDir
    /Volumes/etc/wip-6

DS is still recording these preferences; they're just not being obeyed. And when I say that the current directories aren't being remembered, I mean in the same session. I'm not even leaving the program. I can load a file, then immediately load another, and I'm back in ~/Documents.

I have no idea whether this is a configuration issue, an OS X bug, or something non-kosher that the Qt framework is doing with file dialogs that only manifests as a problem under peculiar circumstances.

Edit: Not nearly the same problem, but enough to make me wonder whether Qt may have issues with 10.9 (DzMainWindow::doFileDialog goes through QFileDialog::getOpenFileName):

Yes, I'm finding this to be irritating too. Please fix. I also moved DAZ from one screen to the other in Mission Control and it crashed. Don't know if it's OS X or the way DS handles things. I couldn't repeat it.

I haven't yet, but I can certainly submit a report. Where should I do that?

Anyone try the 4.6.2.23 beta on Mavericks? Is it any better?

I tried the beta yesterday, but the file dialogs behave the same there under 10.9.

Anyway, I have submitted a ticket. It might not hurt for other people to submit a support ticket if you are seeing this problem, lest this be seen as an isolated incident.

    Me too.

Finder has changed in Mavericks - now I get an option to add a tag when I save a scene, etc. and that is an OSX thing. I can't say whether that means it is a Mac thing or a DS thing. I have not noticed this being a problem in any other application though.

An update: I received a response to my support ticket, confirming that DAZ can reproduce the problem. It has been forwarded to the bug tracker.

Also, there are some interesting things being reported here:

Just a note that this problem still appears in the 4.6.2.106 beta--which is perhaps unsurprising, since it was not mentioned in the change log.

Holy cats, I think this is finally fixed in 4.6.3.50! Hooray!
