Mac: Installing Character In Multiple User Accounts

I'm on a Mac.

I used Daz Install Manager to install a new character I just purchased.   DIM appears to have installed the character in USERS/SHARED, which suggests the character would be available in all Mac user accounts.

I can access the character from the user account where I ran DIM.   I can't load the character from other user accounts.

Should I be able to load the newly installed character from any user account?

If not, how would I install the new character in other Mac users accounts?  I've tried doing a manual install in a 2nd account, not working.   Usually I can get manual installs to work.

Thanks for any advice.

Have you added those locations to Studio through the Content Directory Manager?

    Thank you for the suggestion.

No, I haven't, because no Mac app I've used in 25 years has had to be told where to find it's content, thus it would never occur to me that such a thing is necessary.

For the benefit of others who might have the patience to deal with such unnecessary arcane obtuse complexity, here's a link to the docs for this "feature", I mean bug.

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/finding_loading_and_organizing_content/tutorials/content_directory_manager/start

All this, for a $7 cartoon character that basically does nothing.  Honest to God, what a waste of time.

  • If you use the defaults you won't have to change anything - if you change the defaults then yes, you need to make sure the changes match across applications. You can use alternative paths for things like Photoshop brushes, and even plug-ins, and if you do you need to make sure that all applications using those know where to look; this is no different.
