Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter - Error

Anyone know how to resolve issue with converted poses not working?

I converted a group of poses and most of them work but some give an error when I attempt to use the converted pose.  This is what I find in the log file.

2019-03-01 08:59:32.791 C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/People/Genesis 8 Male/Poses/Converted/Sleeping and Napping/SAN Him Bed 04.duf (1,43): Syntax Error - expected ',' or '}'

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

That sounds as if the file is corrupt or trunctated - either way, there's probably not much to do other than rerun the conversion.

Running the conversion gets the same result.  When I compare a working converted file with a non-working converted file there is a difference in the first line of data.  Unfortunately I don't know enough about the nuts n bolts of a pose file to correct it.  The converter if failing to convert the file.  Just need to figure out why.

I can confirm the same problem. I tried it on other pose sets, and they come out okay, but the "Sleeping and Napping" poses get messed up somehow. Most of the header is missing after "file_version :" and resumes proper syntax after the first "name:", but new lines are messed up (probably because of the missing brackets at the start).

I tried it on the Genesis 3 Female Sleeping and Napping poses, and some of them work, some do not. The ones with DECO BED in the name work, the others have the same problem as the converted male poses.

One thing that I did notice, the ones that convert well are all compressed .duf, the ones that do not are plain ascii text. I only did a spot check, but that was consistent.

ETA: I compressed one of the problematic files (Batch Convert tab) and it fared better with the header, but several parameters come up with values that are NaN (Not a Number) and badly formed brackets (syntax-wise) after, which messes up the formatting for the rest of the file. Definitely something being lost in translation.

As a workaround, try using the Pose Corrector, which modifies the currently applied pose directly, which you can then save as a preset.

Looks like we are seeing the same thing.  I've been doing the manual conversion on those that are not converting properly.  Thanks for your input.

I'm having the same problem too. Many of the converted poses give errors. So I don't use the Pose Converter Script anymore.

I just use the Pose Corrector script now. It works beautifully every time. But you have to run it on every pose as you use them... kind of a pain.

Also, I could not even run the Pose Converter Script with metadata checked... it took 18 minutes and counting on one pose and there were 20 poses in the batch. So I cancelled out. Tried it on several other pose products too with the same result.

I will keep this product for the Pose Corrector Script which is invaluable. Just wish the Pose Converter Script worked for me.

Having th emetadata option checked doesn't seem to be an issue for me, I keep it checked and the converter processes about 20 poses in just a couple of minutes.  My only issues is the failed conversions.  I wish the creator wold chime in on this, it's obviously an issue that should be corrected.  Thanks for your feedback.

Have you sumitted a Help Ticket? That will get someone's attention.

Here is the PA's official thread for the product, maybe that will be more direct: Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter (Commercial)

I fixed the metadata issue with the developer's help in the above discussion forum. I was choosing a destination folder (my Desktop) for the converted poses outside of the DAZ Content folders and that's why it got stuck.

However, once I got the poses to convert properly, using them is another issue. I'm also getting the errors loading some (not all) of the converted poses. I'd say about 40% of the poses with the one product I converted are giving errors.

As I stated earlier, I'm just going to use the manual method Pose Corrector Script  to convert as I use each pose.

The metadata/mapped folders issue and the conversion failures are two separate problems. The poses I checked were being sent to a mapped folder, but with or without the metadata option they failed as previously noted.

Same here. Sorry, didn't mean to confuse the issue. Once I am able to convert poses, many of them simply do not work.
