Le Village help - I think it's reversed normals

Faveral's Le Village Bundle help - I think it's reversed normals.

It has 4 building types but I don't want to repeat them so much so as a test the scaled the Book Store -100.0% on the X axis, last building on the right, it is not so visible it looks like a black smudge in the attached example render.

It works as now the doors & windows & such as reversed and backwards to the other side but even though the surfaces are still there & configured the surfaces of the scale -100.0% on X building is completely black.

I think the normals are reversed. How do I again reverse/flip the normals without undoing scale -100.0% on X?

Thanks!

You can reverse normals (Winding Order) with the Geometry Editor tool. Select the model, right-click in the Viewport>Geometry Selection>Select All, right-click>Geometry Editor>Reverse Winding Order as I recall. However, I think you will find that that affects both models - you may need to make a copy with new geoemtry names before DS will let you edit the reversed one and leave the unreversed one alone.

Hmmm, I thought I posted to Technical Help but this'll do. DAZ 3D Store could stand to have a much more comprehensive product like Le Village and in iRay material format too so here is good too.

Thanks, I'll give your edits a try.

And if I update Le Village bundle to have these -100% scaled building & some new geometry names & save it as a scene will I be able to share the scene or will all the new geometry names result in the geometries being saved from within the scene file (meaning I'd be redistributing the product itself if I shared a scene with those mods).

You remember right, it does flip the normals to the other instance of the building that wasn't scaled by -100% on an axis.

I'm not understanding what you mean by:

"you may need to make a copy with new geoemtry names before DS will let you edit the reversed one and leave the unreversed one alone"

    a) I renamed the 'bookstore (3) that is scaled -100% on x to bookstore-NegX

    b) I post-pended -NegX to all the bone names in that model - no effect

    c) I post-pended -NegX to all the Face Groups names in that model - no effect

    d) I post-pended -NegX to all the Surfaces names in that model - no effect

Is it something different you were talking about or can DAZ Studio no do that (which is OK but I was trying this to learn).

Moved to Technical Help - I hadn't noticed where it was, but Product Suggestions is not for questions about product usage.

By makng a new version I meant with a "new" geometry. Since it's in Poser format, just find the OBJ, make a copy under a new name, make a copy of the CR2 under a new name, and edit the two lines referencing the OBJ to point to the renamed version. That way DS will treat them as independent and you can edit the normals on one without affecting the other. Since this would be a new OBJ, no you couldn't share it with others.

OK, well in that case I can't share the scene file so maybe I'll skip that, at least for a scene file that will be shared. I'll change textures to make them different. Thanks.
