adding decals

Hi,

Is there a straightforward way to add a decal to an existing texture of a piece of clothing - say a shirt, by positioning it directly on the item in 3D?

I see two plugins on the store, but don't need any pre-made decals or lray decals - just looking to add logos, etc.  Just looking for something quick & basic, but can't find any documentation about this.

thank you.

Try looking up for documentation on using L.I.E. layers

Iray Decals will also work, in Iray - they can be better as the item you are projecting can cross seams or apply to areas that are not flat on the maps, but they are weaker than applying a layer to the texture as they are flat projections and so won't wrap around a curved surface nicely.

You don't need a plugin to add an iRay decal.  Select your object, then go to the Create menu and choose "New Iray Decal Node."  Then under the surfaces tab, add the image to that Decal Node under base color,  and you can use cutout opacity to make areas of the image transparent.  Note, the decal won't show until you render with iRay.
