How to find UV textures for Genesis

Hi. If I select Genesis and Right click the surface tab, and click Load UV Set - it brings up a windows explorer screen to select my uv set - but this is currently set to my mimic folder.

Where can I find the UV sets (M4, V4, and K4)?
(I'm on a Window 7 PC and used default install for DAZ 4.5 Pro)

Thanks

On the Surfaces tab UVset is one of the surface settings, near the bottom for the DS Default shader. Load UV set is for adding new UV sets.

Thanks for the help, but I'm not seeing anything like default set below the "Load UV set" option - unless you mean the Use Baked Textures or Map Transfer options??

    NOTE -
at the very top, when I select Genesis in Scene view and then go into the Surfaces Tab, I have a drop down arrow where I can choose: Genesis, Kids 4, or Victoria 5 - is that controlling my UV set or something else? (and would that mean the default for genesis is m4 UV?)

Strange that you aren't showing V4 and M4 in the pull-down. Can you look in the folder ...\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\UV Sets\DAZ 3D\Base and see what's in it?

"Load UV Set" is not the option you want -- that's for adding UVsets, not for selecting from the ones that already exist.

    Inside of C:\Users\rob\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base

    I have:
Directories for Morphs; Projection Templates; Tools; and UV Sets plus Genesis.dsf

    Inside UV Sets>DAZ 3D> Base I have:
    Basic Female.dsf
    Genesis.dsf
    Michael 4 .dsf
    The Kids.dsf, and
    Victoria 4 .dsf

I'm using DAZ 4.6.0.18 Pro Edition

The files are there, so those options should appear in the dropdown. Is this a freshly-loaded Genesis or one in a saved scene?

New scene. I closed DAZ Studio and restarted - and still having same issue.
I'll try updating to latest version of DAZ Studio to see if it makes a difference.

Just updated to 4.6.1.17 and still getting the same problem when I open DAZ, select Genesis in scene, and right click on the Surface Tab.

I should have the root ('Genesis') selected in the scene tab, right?

    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

Silly question, but is the folder with the uv sets you listed in a directory that is mapped in DS as a base content directory?

C:\Users\rob\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library is in my Current Directories under Content Directory Manager

That should pull in this, right?"
    C:\Users\rob\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base

    Thanks

Should, as long as you don't have it somewhere else as well. I was just trying to eliminate the obvious. (Another mapped directory with Genesis Installed is the second obvious issue.)

The third obvious problem could be a corrupt Genesis, which can be caused by things like accidentally saving over the original figure, or other reasons. For this one if you uninstall then reinstall Genesis Starter Essentials it might help.

Ok - downloaded and unzipped. I now have a Content Folder and a Manifest.dsx.

Do I just drag the content folder into Documents/Daz3d/Studio/MyLibrary and let the folders merge?
And what do I do with the Manifest.dsx file?

    Thanks

(I have not installed the DIM yet)

The files in the Content folder get merged into your "MyLibrary" folder, not the content folder itself.

You should NOT be right-clicking on the Surfaces tab. Select Genesis in the Surfaces tab (Editor Pane), and scroll to the bottom of the list of surface settings.

I missed that. Good catch Mike.

In the UV set dropdown - I have M4, V4, Kids 4, Genesis Male, and Genesis Female.

I thought Genesis Female was the V4 uv set,
and Genesis Male was the M4 uv set.

    Is that correct or no?

(just trying to understand this better, because I set some things up in DAZ Studio, then bring into C8.5 Pro to animate and render, and you apparently can't switch UV sets of genesis once opened in Carrara so need o set things up properly from the start with Some Face Gen characters I'm making for genesis.

For Genesis and Genesis 2 Female there are UV presets.

In Carrara, for Genesis: Loading Victoria 5 will change the UV set to V5. Basic Female will load the V4 UV set (Also the default Genesis UV set). Basic Male loads the M4 UV set. Basic Child, loads the K4 UV set. M5 loads the M5 UV set, etc.

For Genesis 2 Female, Loading the base is the V5 UV set. Loading V6 is the V6 UV set, etc. I am pretty sure that there is a preset that loads the V4 UV set included with Michael Lane's V4 clone.

Note that any DUF material preset correctly sets the UV set in Carrara as well as the texture map. So for your use that is less of a problem than you believe it to be.
