Controls moving 'under' my right pane?

Hi gang!

I have a weird problem and I can't get my fingers behind what is causing all this...  Whenever I expand my smart content pane (which I keep on the left side) so that it shows 3 columns then it pushes away my viewport controls and I don't understand why.

So, here is my normal situation (to illustrate):

As you can see my controls are in the upper right corner where they should be, all is well.

But as soon as I expand any panes on the left then this happens:

What gives?

I can prevent this from happening by lowering the width of the left pane, but this isn't the behavior I'm used to. I am positive that on my old machine the controls always stayed in place, even if I had both panes open which left me very little room for the viewport (I used to work with a 4:3 monitor, now I have a nice 16:9 27" monitor).

Now that I have more room to work with I obviously want to use it, 3 columns of icons.

Is there something I'm overlooking here?

I did manage to "fix" this last month by removing all panes and then manually adding one after the other, but it didn't last. So now I'm hoping to find out what's causing this.

Thanks in advance for any pointers you might be able to give me!

  • Unless you're using them close the 'Shader Mixer' and 'Shader Builder' tabs.

They have a scaling issue, minimum space requirement, and produce this when in any dock area other than the bottom area.

This is a known issue with the Shader Mixer and the Shader Builder pane in the same row (Pane Group) as the Viewport.

Just close the Shader Mixer and the Shader Builder panes and the Viewport Controls should and stay visible in the upper right corner while scaling the viewport.

To close the panes you could right-click on the title and choose Close Pane from the context menu but make shure that "Lock Docking/Undocking" is off the shortcut is Ctrl+U, can also be found in the menu Window>Workspace.

This issue gets a new thread every now and then, I've seen a few but I have to say your description and sceenshots illustrates it very well.

I suggest you to open up a support ticket (bug report) here: https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and give them a link to this thread. Some say the more people complain about the higher the priority could be to fix it.

Thanks a bunch, you guys completely nailed it. As soon as I closed both 'shader panes' then the controls remained in place no matter what. I then re-added the shader mixer because I use this on a regular basis and so far so good. As soon as I can discover how to reproduce this behavior no matter what then I'll open a support ticket. It seems a bit too vague for that now, especially because the controls remain in place right now even though I have the same panes available.

But now that I know where to look it should be easier to investigate.

    Thanks again, much appreciated!
