Normals for Audrey? (SOLVED)

The Audrey character has two icons for Normals On and Off, but I can't see any difference in the renders.
Can some please explain what "normals" are and what i am doing wrong?

Normal maps are another way of doiing bump mapping
Why not trying pushing the button and see if you can see the difference.
Thanks for your reply Chohole.
I have made renders (the render one can do directly in the viewport) with Normals turned On and Off. No difference what I can see.
@reserv888
You may need a closeup to see differences. I'm also not conviced that the Iray viewport and an actual render give the same results. The few times I have used the Iray option for the viewport, the lighting looks different from an actual render. FWIW.
Go to the surfaces tab and select the figure and then go to surfaces and select the torso, or arm, or face. There will be a slot called Normal Map. If there is a blue texture there and a value asssigned to it, then your normals are active.
Normal maps are like a general bump map and when used with a bump map, the bump gives you finer details. Lots of thimes you will need to increase the subdivision to see the effect of these maps.
Thanks a lot chohole, fastbike1 and FCMCDesigns for your replies. When rendered close-up there is a small difference not noticeable in the viewport.
Thanks also for educating me what Normals are used for.
