Need Help with export

I need some help here.

I bought myself a new Character for Genesis 3 males. If i try to export it in DAZ3D Studio i got only the standard gen 3 Mesh. Only with the new Texture.

How can i Export the Modified Mesh properly with the New Char?

The only thing that worked was as i opended the new Mesh with Carrara and exported it as a OBJ. But OBJ does not export the weights or the Joints.

What should i do ?

What character was it? What do you need to export it for?

  • Sorry. I sayd it the wrong way.  my mistake.

I export the Modified Mesh from DAZ3D into Cinema 4d as a simple FBX. After it wasnt working i tryd the whole other Formats i can export from DAZ3D Studio.

Nothing worked. I Got only the standard Gen 3 Male with his new texture. After that i tried it in Hexagon 2.5.

I could Export it fron Hexagon as a OBJ, but thart was it. I got the Rigjht Mesh but without Texture tags or Weights.

There must be a possibillity that i can export the Modified Mesh as a colladda or maybe an FBX, so that i can keep the whole new Mesh and especially the Original Weights. The Figure in Gen 3 was Whillis and Cain. But Cain works for Gen 3 and Gen 8.

I absolutely dont know what to dio next. I allready tries all that i could do.

I hope you can help me in this case

  • What options are you using in the FBX export dialog in Daz Studio?

  • There are the standard Options and i use only Merge Text to folder and then Selected, Figures and Morphs.

It only works if export the Mesh into Hexagon 2, and then export it as a different File like OBJ, 3DS and so on.

But allways without Textures or weights.

  • I tried exporting to FBX a G8 figure with a full body morph applied using only the Selected, Figures and Morphs options, plus Collect Textures to Folder.

I don't have C4D, but I imported into Blender and the figure has the morphed shape.  The textures are in a sub-folder below where the FBX file is created but there are no materials imported.  The bones are  a mess and there is no weight mapping.

It looks to me like the FBX export from DS isn't much good, and C4D's importer is having a hard time dealing with what it produces. Maybe you could find a FBX file from another source to verify the C4D importer is working fully.

  • Try these settings (see attached) for exporting FBX and importing in Cinema4D.  I do the following and can get textures, poses and morphs all working.

Note that under the export rules, there is just a single entry.  By default, there were two entries and I suspect that one of them was throwing things off.

Problem. Not as quiete as i expected. It worked once. But not now.

I got the Settings as you said but i have only one Rule in the Export Morphs Tag.

I got only the Standard Genesis 3 Male.

You said there should be at least two Rules in the Export Rule Tab. I got only one. I can Export and Import CVS Files. But i dont understand what they should mean.

It worked at leased once. But not now. I Got all settings as you said. But it isnt working at the moment.

The only thing that has come into my mind is that i deinstall and instell again DAZ 3D Studio. Maybe its just only a bug.

  • No, for export rules, there should be only one (per a video I found regarding FBX exports).  A factory install of DAZ Studio has two entries in there for some reason; I deleted one of them.  Whether or not that has any bearing on things, I don't know.  I just wanted to match my settings exactly as I found in the video.

Having said that, not sure why it would only work once.  I can now consistently export single frames using FBX and import into Cinema4D using the settings above.   I can have custom poses and morphs and both export a-ok.  What doesn't work at all are animations; still trying to find a workaround for that.
