Anyone had good results in getting different variations in colour with an oily surface on liquid? If so can you please share?

This is all I got after applying an "oily" top coat.
Thickness of the Top Coat Thin Film seems to play the most important role. I made some renders with different values; the one in the previous post was using a thickness of 10000.
The value is measured in nanometers; so we are talking about very thin "surfaces". Highers values close to a milimeter resulted in very odd results. Maybe, polygon density of the water volume might help too.
And, of course, IOR also played a major role. All of the above renders were using an IOR of 1.55. I did a couple more with 1.45 and 1.50. Hope it helped with what you were trying to achieve.
Oh yeah that does help big time Rafmer, thank you so much. I did know some of this but not enough to bring it all together. I really do appreciate your efforts It will be a big help.
You are welcome Szark. I like experimenting with shaders. By the way, the water volume polygon density didn't help at all.
I think a water volume mesh is really only good for Abbe and too some degree SSS, that is what I found and since this is a thin coat surface attribute I didn't think an enclosed mesh would help. But it is good to get someone else to confirm things. LOL
@Rafmer when you say 20K do you mean 20000 nano
Yes, you are right.
cool just making sure. Thx again.
