I'm looking for an inexpensive 3D Mac software that will accept Illustrator bezier paths for lathing and extruding, and that will produce objects I can bring into DS.
Is there such a thing? Lots of cheap 3D software out there but won't import AI files. Lots of AI compatible software but costs the earth! Would Adobe's new Fuse be a solution?

Do you also have Photoshop? Can you not create the desired 3D object from your bezier curve by rotating and extruding in Illustrator, then export that to Photoshop where you can export it to Collada DAE or Wavefront .obj formats? That should give you what you are looking for and can be further edited in any modelling program i.e. Hexagon, if desired. I haven't actually gone this route myself, but, unless I am missing something, that should work.
Hexagon will also do this directly.
I never knew that! I have got to give this a try.
@ValKyrie, If you haven't already "purchased" Hexagon, it's currently free, and works with Mac as well as Windows.
Oh wow - okay! I have Hexagon and have never opened it. I will give it a try tonight!! I do also have P'shop but have never explored its 3D or Illustrator's.
Thanks for the great suggestions folks!
