I updated to DAZ Studio 4.10 and . . . is it supposed to look like this?
I mean, all white, no-detail UI would be a bold move . . .

That looks as if DS was running (possibly shutting down in the background) when you installed a new version. As far as I can tell from the downsampled screen shot that's Windows, so open Task Manager (right-click on the Task Bar - you will need to click the More Details button at lower-left, if it isn't, to see processes that aren't showing a button)) and make sure DS really is closed, then uninstall and reinstall.
