So I installed Daz 4.6 over a previous older version 4.0 but now I am getting the message in the pic shown. Evidently I am not getting genesis up. Why is this? how can I correct it please.

Also just an unrelated query: why has it not asked me for the registration key?

You need to install "Genesis Starter Essentials" and "Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials" -- in 4.0 they were included in the DS installer, starting with 4.5 the application and the content are separate installers.

ETA: After doing that, you need to change the startup scene in Edit > Preferences > Startup from Genesis.dsf to Genesis.duf

When you update DS your previous settings are preserved, so it still has your previous serial number.

Tell me more on what you mean here please. I have this. What do I do to select 'Startup from Genesis.dsf to Genesis'.

Click on the Startup tab in that Preferences windows. It will list the current startup scene -- use the browse button and choose Genesis.duf from the same folder.

Click where it says "Browse" right below that line and select Genesis.duf

Easier to just uncheck Load File and for good measure switch it to None. Do the same thing for Scene.

I see you have a folder named "Content" under "My Library" -- that's a mistake and the folders underneath "Content" need to be moved up a level to merge with the folders directly under "My Library".

Ummm ok I did this. So when I load up Daz now it does not come up with the Genesis message thing. How do I load Genesis manually please?

In Smart Content or in Categories Genesis is listed under Default > Figures > People > Male and Default > Figures > People > Female
In DAZ Studio Formats Genesis is listed under My Library > People > Genesis

K I don't have it listed at all. I think the problem all along is I just don't have Genesis on here at all. I am not sure anyway here is where I tried to do the above.

That's for the Poser version -- look in DAZ Formats > My Library > People > Genesis

You still have a folder named "Content" under "My Library" -- is it in there? You need to move what's inside "Content" up one level and merge it with the folders under "My Library".

You have at least one Issue the First is the Content folder in the My Library Folder that Needs opened and ALL content moved up into the My Library folder. You also need to be sure your Paths in DAZ Studio point to that My Library folder.

    EDIT Cross Post.

K I got the file open but am not sure what you mean by merging it into my library folder. I really sorry about how dumb I am being I am just not used to messing round with these files. And to answer the other persons question; no the file was not in there.

First: Never work on content with Daz Studio open, you can cause CMS Database errors.
Second: You can, if on Win7, just Copy the two folders with select all and then Go up one level and Paste, you will get a Windows Prompt asking IF you wish to MERGE the folders with existing folders you DO YES to all and that will fix the content error. You then need to DELETE the content folder as it is causing a Nesting issue.

Here is Why a content folder can not be inside a My Library or My DAZ 3D Library folder.

All Daz content before DAZ Studio 4 went into a Content folder as the TOP and Mapped folder, DS2 and DS3 still use it.
With DAZ4.0 the My Library started so users could keep the DS4 and DS3 content in different folders if they liked.
With DIM the My DAZ 3D Library was created to comply with the MS Dos standards.

Thus all three Names are Content Folder Names. You can not have one DAZ Studio Content folder inside another one. That causes a Nesting issue where files will refuse to load no matter how they are mapped. so No My Library/content is allowed or any combonation of the above names.
