HeadShop Oneclick 2 - Now Installed, but cannot find in Daz

Hello All,

I am back with yet another problem I am having.

I purchased this item about a couple weeks ago:

https://www.daz3d.com/headshop-oneclick2

I wanted to use it today and I found I am having trouble finding it.  I don't think it installed.  I am looking all over and I decided to look in my DIM to see if it at least downloaded from there.  Low and behold and it isn't there either.  I go to my account and to the order where the item is.  I singled out and selected the item to install using the Installation Manager.  When I signed on to the latter, I have noticed that HeadShop OneClick2 DOES NOT appear on the list.  It is also not on the installed list.  So it looks like the reason I can't find it is because it didn't install. So the question I have is why?   At first, I thought it might be a stand alone item, but it isn't.  The description specifically says it works within Daz and not outside of it.

So my next question is this, if the DIM didn't install it, then how do you install it?

Thanks,

Geo

  • HeadShop is currently NOT a DIM installer. You have to download a zip file and unzip. It has its own installer and README.

DAZ will be working on a DIM version - soon.

Ok, got that far and started to do the install manually.  Now it is asking for a license number.  Where do I get that?

On the Daz Store website click on the user icon in the top right corner, it will show a dropdown list where you select "MY ACCOUNT", then click the "Serial Numbers" link. It will be listed there.

Thank you!  That did the trick!

    Hello All,

Just an updated on my progress here.  I managed to get the program to install and I can find it in my DAZ 3D directory.  From there, I can manually start the program, however, it doesn't work as it says it can't find the model.  Given the description of the program saying it is a plug in, I figured I would have to have Daz running and there was someway to access it from within Daz.  However, I can't find any trace of Headshop: One Click in Daz.

So does the program run within Daz or not?

While trying to run it outside, I get an error message.   I tried to follow this tutorial:

I don't get as far has he does.  I only get as far as to loading the picture in and then I get the error message in the first picture attached below.  From there I can continue by selecting Genesis 8 for the figure.  When I click on apply, I get the second error message.

So I am just wondering how to proceed from here as I would like to get this going.

    Thank You

Well, sort of.  I found out that it installed to the Edit drop down menu and it has to be started inside of Daz.  But of course, no one tells me this and I found out through a You Tube video.  Naturally I orginally thought it was going to install to a utility option under the Content Library.  But next came the operation of the program.  A picture doesn't load perfectly and you pretty much have to move the face nodes for every picture.  This is a tedius process and it is very time consuming.  If you don't take the time to do it, the face just looks distorted and weird.  To make matters worse, the undo feature doesn't work. I clicked on the undo button until the cows came home and it just doesn't do anything.  So that was the nail in the coffin for me.  I ended up returning the package on the last of the 30 day trial. I mainly bought the program to be a time saver when trying to create the likeness of a real person.  But it turns out that it is just the opposite and you have to put much time into it.  I figured I am better off just using morphs and get an approximation of whom I am trying to mimic.  So the short version is that this really didn't work out for me and I would have rather used the $20 I spent on it to get clothing items.

BTW, on a side note - Is there a good thread here on making your own clothing for Daz?  I find clothing to be the single greatest expense for me. I tried to search for it here, but as you probably already know, the forum search is lame at best.

Thank you! Maybe that kind of products are not ready yet for what I'd like to do (that is to create figures similar to actresses I like with low quality photos and in an easy way).

In order to create my characters I use a lot SimTenero Randomizer, since I have many morphs. I randomize until the result is closer to what I want to achieve, then I start again from that point, and I give the final touches by hand.

I think that to make your own clothes is very hard, and you can't do it in Daz! Start with freebies (there are some videos on my YouTube channel, that's in my signature), and continue with genesis generation products, then restore them with new generation shaders! This way I've achieved entire outfits with less than 2$.

I've talked about that here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/319396/very-useful-daz-products-imho-converters-lights-utilities-morphs-vram-optimizers-shaders-etc

It just seemed too tedius to use and that was coupled with the undo feature not working and while the likeness was captured, the best way to explain it is that a photo was wrapped around the head, which is probably how it works.  You get a bunch of nodes to manipulate on the face and can put things better into place, but in the end it wasn't to my liking.  I think I am just best off getting as close as possible with morphs.  I have over 500 anyway for the Gen 8 female.

That seems like a good approach I have not looked into one of these yet, but I could see using that to come up with a good base and then work from there

You were not the first person to mention that to me about creating clothes being hard and yes, I know you can't do it within Daz.   I did get a tutorial program recently here on Daz that shows you how to make a clothing items within Hexagon.   I ended up buying quite a few outfits, both new and old.  But I found out quickly that Genesis 8 is not 100% backward compatible. Using Gen 2 and 3 on a Genesis 8 figure, I ran into shoe fitting problems, seams pulling when arms are raised, capes and skirts behaving oddly when positioned.  I heard using those converter utilities can be hit or miss.   So what I been doing is mostly sticking with Gen 8 clothing, but I don't always get the texture add-ons.  Instead I have texture packages and I can use that to change things up.  I also have the Multi-Dress system and the Merimay dress system and with these coupled with the texture packages I can make a wide variety of dresses.  So as of now, I mostly buy just the really fancy stuff that I can't make with the dress systems.  BUT I would eventually like to make a dress from scratch one day.

I just checked that out a while ago.  NICE!  I am happy someone put something together like that.  But I will comment over there on that.
