Daz not recognizing individual meshes in a grouped .obj file ????

I have been trying to import .obj files into Daz and for some reason it has stopped recognizing individual or different meshes in a grouped file and sometimes merges a few meshes together or even all the meshes together in a solid "lump". Sometimes items are recognized as individual items in the surfaces tab but sometimes not and when a texture is applied every item, in what should be seperate items in a group, all get the same texture.

This is strange and I am at a loss in how to correct it.

Any suggestions would help.I am getting desperate.

 Thanks

DS has always brought an OBJ fiel in as a single node, with face and surface groups. The importer does not support the o statement declaring separate objects. You could break the objects into multiple files in a modeller, or you could use the Geometry Editor tool in DS - it cans elect by face or surface groups, and can also select connected geometry, so you should find it fairly simple to select parts; then right-click>Geometry Visibility to hide the parts you don't want, right-click>Geometry Editing>Delete hidden to remove the unwanted parts; export as OBJ and reimport to get an indpenedent item, then repeat for the other parts.

  • Hi,

You can also import the obj into hexagon and send each part into studio very easily. Its not as nice as bring the whole group into studio, but once inside studio you can  regroup the parts into a group by creating a new group. I havve conerted several old objects this way. Hope this helps.
