I guess so, trying to figure out how well forum times correlates with US/Swedish times depending on DST on/off and the fact cloudflare servers are in different parts of the world but I think so, until someone proves me wrong ;)

...yeah, something is odd about the time stamps on posts as I submitted at 10:58 local time (PST) which would 11:58 Daz Time. Was grumbling at the computer to go faster.

For some reason it is setting the time an hour ahead of one's local time zone. There is another thread where this was just brought up here:

Wow, renders just got crazier and better at the end - hawkonthewing, Barbult, Zawarkal, MelanieL, Kyoto Kid, Sasje - some great stuff. Thanks for pushing the (wacky) envelope even more. It is going to be soooo hard to vote.

I agree with Luci, RRRR is not just the wackiest render contest on DAZ, it must be the wackiest render contest in the galaxy.

Thanks for including me in the comment. I knew I was going to have to push for wacky and I was trying, so nice to know I might have succeeded a bit.

It is always so much fun judging these contests. You just never know what you are going to find!

...same here, after the first one I just had to continue with the theme.

...and I'll say, this month really put the skills to test.

Sounds like we all had pushed our skills, learned something new and had load of fun doing it, which is the primary goals of RRRR. I've got some ideas for the next round thanks to barbult but I will tweak the idea until I'm satisfied with it. Pushing the limit is what drives this forward!

I really have way to much Jack Tomalin stuff in my library. Not that it's a bad thing as most of it is priced well within my budget (a lot of PC items).

OK, off to revise the list for the next one (picked up quite a few things in the Black Friday sale this weekend).

Limit? "We don't need no stinkin' limit." (or was that badges?) :cheese: Anyway, yes, more fun, more skills. And thanks, barbult, for introducing the story. I love it, have been wanting to do stories for a long time and just never got started. Impromptu stories are a hoot.

Luci, I think you found what I will try to concretize in the next RRRR, but it has to be doable and it has to be fun. Thinking about how to do it!

Yeah, things were lots of fun, I had a blast with the story idea. Hopefully I'll get some good ideas for the next one too.

At the risk of bringing my old gaming karma down on me (great strategist, HORRIBLE roller), would "roll 1d4 (1d8...1d20...) each round to see how many pulls you have for that round." be workable? Then the number of pulls itself is random...

I can definitely relate! In a previous RRRR, I hacked the crap out of one of his geometries! (I'm just glad he didn't sue!)

Doing a story was great fun. It added extra complexity, trying to tie the new in with the old. In the end, it was so much more satisfying than 5 individual unrelated renders. I kind of miss Muck from last month, and I'll probably miss Thomas, too, but I'm ready for a fresh start for next time.

...I'd only get one or two item pulls with the way I roll so it would be like cheating for me.

The only game I did well in was the old Champions™ system where the lower you rolled (on three six siders), the better the hit. Three 1's were like a "natural 20" in other games. Of course my damage rolls were not all that great, so yeah, I'd get a lot of hits, but the supervillians would go, "ow...was that supposed to hurt me?"

    ...I agree.

The only trouble I see with making it a part of the challenge structure is that not everyone has the time in one month to submit four to five entries to have a storyline play itself out.

Well, I remember quite a few times where I came up with a great plan, a fantastic plan, sure to save the day from whatever we had gotten ourselves into that session. :cheese: And I'd roll a critical failure every time. :shut: Often incapacitating me for the rest of that scenario. It was depressing, but often highly dramatic. So I'd be rolling max draws every time...but that could be fun, so I'm game.

Lol hawk, you just cant roll worse then me (I got a tshirt saying "my dice are trying to kill me".
And I think that would be difficult, hey 99% of the worlds population has never heard about a roll 1d4 + 1d6, but the idea I'm cooking hopefully adds enough gambles. But this has been discussed (random number of items, might do that too one day).

OK, I will now reveal the idea I have, RRRR Stories.

This is the basic idea, please give feedback as I want this to be fun for everyone.

    (1) Make a pull - 4 items
    (2) Render, post in renders thread
    (3) Replace items with random (maybe a random number here, not sure), make another render that is part of the same story.
    (4) Update your renders thread post, add the image, add to the story.
    (5) The "post" is done when it has at least 3 images to the story.
    (6) You can enter up to three stories.

Voting will be made "per story/series", not per image.

Now, feed back please (while the voting thread for this one is being set up)

I like the idea of voting based on story. Would we have 3 images per story and up to 3 stories - did I get that right? Can we post the story text with the story for voting, or just the pictures? I'd like to be able to read the story words.

My plan is that the story should go with the render thread as well so when all three images are there the story will be a complete story together with three images. Glad you like it!

I like your idea, that sounds like a lot of fun. Sign me up for sure!

I don't know, I might be able to give you a run for your money on bad dice...one D&D game, I had a VERY generous GM, and even then I managed to critically fail a to hit on a targeted spell on a demon...and then critically fail 3 saves in a row (he tried, that GM really tried) and it grabbed my character's soul and ran off with it...

And one White Wolf game, I critically failed a save after our virtual adept tried to e-send us somewhere to escape a pack of werewolves and ended up a permanent net creature...

Or critically failing while trying to pick the pocket of a high level mage...

Critically failing hitting an orc...and GM had me roll on a table of 100 possible outcomes to figure out just what happend when I swung...and I rolled to hit myself...then managed to max damage...but in a sick and twisted way, it was actually pretty fun to see what would happen each time.

Like the idea. The only input I have is to require a minimum of three images to qualify for a prize. To be honest, some of you folks work so much faster that you were on render four when I was still on render one, so if I participate this next time, I know I'll probably only get three renders done. It is a major holiday month and I might not even participate, but I think for those who do, it takes 3 renders to tell a story.

Not too sure about the story idea myself... but hey, it's the RRRR
will just have to see how time weaves its web this next go round

edit: I kind of like the 'how time weaves its web' theme, may have to work with that...hmmmm
