Would you get:

Toon Generations Mega-Bundle for Genesis 8 Male(s) and Female(s)

https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-mega-bundle-for-genesis-8-males-and-females?

Or would you get:

Toon Generations 2 Mega Bundle for Genesis 3 Female(s) and Male(s)

https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-2-mega-bundle-for-genesis-3-female-s-and-male-s

I really just want the babies, but I can play with all of them.  Also, as I understand it, I can mix morphs with other actors, or am I wrong?

Also, can they wear normal G3 or G8 clothing?

Thank you so much for your help!!

I can’t really tell you which one to buy, although I think the newer version might be the way to go if you have a lot of G8 characters to mix them with.  They can both wear normal clothing and they can both be mixed with other characters and their textures.

I just recently got the newer one. I had the older one in my wishlist, but the newer one won over. It depends: do you see yourself using more a (very soon) 2 generations back or only one (new Genesis generations commonly come out in a two year cycle at the beginning of summer and this June is two years since Genesis 8) ;). Some things to think about anyway...hehe.

  • Well, I am actually playing catch-up with G3 and G8.  I have some really cool things with each.

I think I will go with the G8 version!  I don't really want to be behind anymore.

Thank you guys so much!!  I certainly appreciate all of the advice I am getting going from Poser to DS.....from A3 and V4 to All Genesis!!!

    Happy Dance!!

Have fun!  I think you made the right choice ;-) You can’t go wrong with anything that 3D Universe comes out with.

One of the greatest toon 3d creators ever, IMO :)  I am at work and hope to purchase and play with them tomorrow!!

I totally forgot to mention that the G8 Toon Generations comes wtih dforce clothing and the G3 version does NOT, so if you can't use dforce for whatever reason, you might want the G3s. If that's the case, at least you can return the G8's with Daz's very generous return policy ;). If you can and do use dforce, then forget I mentioned it. LOL

I've all three Toon Generations but if you must get only one take note that Toon Generations Three comes with more varience in Skin Tones and an Afro. The biggest loss in my opinion in you only buy Toon Generations 3 is the hair for both the Granny and Grampa in Toon Generations 3, otherwise they are roughly equivalant with some additional materials and 3D designs  in Toon Generations 3. Also you get a nice set of baby poses in Toon Generations 3.

On both you do often need to go to the appropriate folder in the Content Library tab rather than the Smart Content tab to find a few of the presets.

  • Well, the sale is off on them!!  I fell asleep after dinner (hubby had ready when I got home from work.)  Yesterday, they were at their regular price :(

Thank you all for your responses!

There WILL be another sale :)

3DU is pretty good about providing clones for their own earlier standalone figures. Not all of them, but they did provide clones for Sam and Sadie when they rebuilt those for Genesis 1.

  • I missed the second sale, too :(

I know I will have another chance.  I wanted those little babies so badly...which is just a morph of the male or female, I believe.

I didn't know 3DU provided clones for some of their characters.

    Thank you all!!

Gotta be vigilant (and quick) around here to catch the sales sometimes. LOL

Good luck for next time ;)

3DU has clones for the Toon Generations 2 so that the Toon Generations 1 clothing & such work on them although I haven't tried them.

Both... and that Generation 3 to Generation 8 transfer script!

I would want both as I like to use both Genesis 3 and Genesis 8.

So did I.  I cannot catch every good sale.  I wish I could but I that is not possible for me.

  • I bought the set with the dforce clothes ... I've not used G8 much, so maybe I'm missing something ... but how do I load the characters?

  • JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,288

Depends on where you've installed them. But they are probably listed under vendr vendor name rather than by the individual character's name..

There are the usual presets that load them in Smart Content, in the Content Library tab, or you can just load the base G8 character(s) and use the shape sliders to apply the desired Toon Generations morphs you want. Note: There are now 2 different Toon Generations Mega Bundles for G8. I bough both, mainly to have more face shapes and hair products but the clothing is a bit different between them to.
