Major DForce problem

I tried to use DForce last night but it ended up trying to convert all the clothes into DForce.  What did I do wrong?  What do I need to do instead?

Did you run the simulation with the figures in that pose? If so failure is likely as there will be all kinds of intersection - you will need to do a play-range simulation, starting from the figures in their zero pose and standing apart and ending in the final pose, with key frames added to avoid intersections. However, even then not all clothes will convert to dForce.

I didn't think non-dForce clothes would "convert to dForce" unless one deliberately added a dForce modifer to each item.

they won't.  but that particlar pose is going to have a lot of intersections.... hair, crunching up pose, the second figure.
I always turn off everything thing I can before a sim.... Hair, jewelry, any extras that may cause an issue (like a second figure with clothes and hair). I find it best to sim one item at a time, just hair, just clothes, per person.

I went to take a shower and by the time I came back to work on the scene I found out that the computer had restarted itself half an hour ago.  Not sure what happened, but all I know is that I have to restart the scene from scratch because I did not save it in the first place.

Another way you could try is to set up just the male with clothes, etc. then Export it all as a single wavefront object.

Next save the scene for later, and open a new, empty scene. Import that wavefront object, and you can set up and pose the female character. Now it gets tricky, and you will probably still need to run the simulation using a timeline.

Once that's done, you can delete the wavefront object without any changes to the rest of the scene, and finally you can merge the first scene (with the male) with the scene that had dForce applied.

Note that this is just an alternative to the method Richard Haseltene suggested.

I suggest watching Mada's DForce tutorials especially the nightshirt.

Once I get home I will hopefully be able to watch this video on my tv.  I have a lot to learn still about DForce.
