View Controls disappear in DS

I'm having a strange problem with the View Controls in DS 32 4.6.0.18 in XP. If they're in Cube mode and I select "Cartoon Shaded" the controls become invisible (see screenshot) except for the Orbit control. The others are still there, and I can access them by clicking the right places, but I can't make them visible again without restarting DS. If I shift to "Docked" mode they become visible again as a toolbar, but disappear again if I shift back to Cube mode.
Does anyone else experience this or is it a local problem on this machine? I can't reproduce it in DS 64 (also 4.6.0.18) in Win 7.

I don't have the disappearing problem in win7-64. It could be the vid card or perhaps even your background color. Right now I have a middling gray and find the circles hard to see. The box itself displays fine.
If you click the little paper icon in the upper right of the viewport controls, do you have the auto-hide settings enabled?
No - besides, if I had, the controls would normally show up when you hover the mouse over them, which they don't. They do however if I click where the buttons are supposed to be. And auto-hide doesn't work after they have become invisible, btw.
It's only when I select "Cartoon Shaded" it happens - none of the other view options causes it.
I can't reproduce it in either 4.6.1.17 or 4.6.2.23. Is there anything in your log file when it happens (help > troubleshooting > log file)?
Nothing unusual in the log file.
I've tried to upgrade to 4.6.1.17 now, and now the controls go black instead of becoming invisible.
I can also see from the change log that they've been fixing something with the Cartoon Shaded view:
"Fixed #50686 : Program crashes when Cartoon Shaded is selected"
Anyway, not a big problem to me as I'm going 64 bit soon, just thought it might be a bug that needed to be reported. But apparently no one else here have the problem. Like I said I don't have the problem in DS 64 in Win 7, and the machine that I have that on is completely identical hardware wise, so I assume its a software/driver problem.
