DAZ threw me into a fit of rage. I hate you so much.

Ok, hate is a strong word. I don't hate daz but I'm not talking to it right now.

Every couple months daz likes to bug out randomly and my keybindings stop working. Can't navigate with wsad, etc. It's annoying. This happened again two days ago. I don't want to have to reset the settings again so I ignored it and just used my mouse. Yesterday I loaded a scene and my mouse left click stopped properly. Instead of being able to select nodes, it ended up just click-drag navigating the scene. This won't work for me so I reset daz settings to get my basic functions back.

Did I mention that a month ago I spent 2 days organizing all of my smart content into newly created folders and a naming scheme I could understand? Well now that's all gone. All the organization has vanished. Thanks a lot.

Does anyone know why these bugs happen, how to prevent them, and how to restore settings without deleting my organized smart content folder structure? This is completely unacceptable.

This is not typical behaviour. Both the database adn the keyboard shortcuts/modifiers are stored (in separate folders) in the AppData  folder (Application Suport on a Mac) - is it possible that something (security software would be the obvious suspect, or some kind of low-level system utility) is blocking access to or resettings files in that location?

Thanks for the response. I've calmed down now and can laugh at the silly hissy fit.

I don't have any security software and am only running windows firewall. Do you have any idea of what could be causing the strange bug of keybinding and mouse click changes? I will reorganize everything in the content library now rather than using Smart Content just to be safe.

No, even suggesting that it might be an issue with the AppData folder was clutching at straws (though i would suggest making sure you back that up on a regular basis, if you aren't)

Do the issues seem related to Wndows updates in their timing?

No, these issues don't seem to be related to Windows updates. I've had these issues since I first started using Daz late last year. Key binding/camera wsad movement randomly not working once every couple of months. I've had these issues on my previous PC running windows 7, and on the newer one running windows 10. I've never manually organized the smart content library though so this was a new issue for me.

Moving forward, I'll do the organization via content library to be safe. This organization shouldn't get deleted when I have to default back to standard settings, correct?

No, moving files is not affected by DS - though you may have issues if there's an update to the product, with orphan files potentially left behind.

Arlight, thanks for your help Richard. Daz and I are on speaking terms again angel
