Unwanted transparency

Recently, my human figures have been coming out transparent. Not their clothes or hair, just their skin and eyes. And it only effects the Genesis figures as far as I've seen; my animals have all come out fine. I've checked the surfaces tab; the opacity is set to 100%. I'm sure some setting just got flipped somewhere, but I don't know where to look for it.

I've included an example render. I use 3Delight because, for my purposes, Iray is too slow and 3Delight looks fine (at least it did). From left to right, the figures are Genesis 1, 2, and 3. That Genesis 3 figure is actually the first to come out decent, although I meant those to be reading glasses rather than sunglasses.

I've had that problem too. Someone told me to check that Motion Blur is not enabled (it was, I've no idea how it got switched on in my case as I've never deliberately used it).

It's a checkbox under Render Settings - Advanced.

  • Yep, it was checked. That explains why the animation I did last week with the Daz Big Cat looked so cool. And now that I know how to do this, I may be able to do cool ghost effects on purpose. I'll do a quick render and let you know how it goes.

  • Looks like it worked. Thank you. And if you ever want to do cool ghost effects, now you know how.

Glad to help - I still haven't worked out why that box gets checked from time to time - maybe there's a full environment preset somewhere in my library that does it.

From memory, when I first reported it and was doing some investigations I am pretty sure at times it was not checked, but checking/unchecking it worked (as did, again from memory, toggling a few of the controls on that tab!).
