Funny, I was just thinking about Wancow yesterday and hoping he was doing OK. He was always helpful.

All I know is he fell on some hard times and was surviving as best he could. I guess it's OK to say this in a public forum (will delete if not). I hope things are working out for him and better times are ahead.

He's still kicking. Through some clever Google searching I found some recent posts by him (I mean 2 days ago recent) on a website dealing with local issues for his area. Same icon and all. I'm not going to link it just because, well, privacy and all.

If you know his real name/location it's easy enough to find, though.

No doubt Wancow will be back on the forums once things start looking up. Aside from being a great artist, he's always been very helpful to newcomers and seasoned professionals alike. Hopefully whatever bad luck he's run into will blow over so he can get back into the swing of things.

I was thinking about him a few weeks ago. Inspired me to create this fake magazine cover.

    -Hair & eyes were Photoshopped.
    -Watergun: UweG
    -Bowtie (for Freal4): tentman
    -Business suit: Predatron&Diane;

Wancow is doing OK. He is concentrating on writing about the Homeless people of Livermore. He has his own blog. he said he would be back, but when I don't know.

    Hey Guys...
    Yeah, I'm doing okay.
I don't usually like to write about my personal history, but here goes:
My real name is Christian Holm, and lately I've been writing for the Livermore Patch a couple of blogs. One is called Homelessness for Stupid People (I've been homeless for four years) and the other is Livermore Watch where I pretend to be a real reporter. I'm good at pretend stuff.

    http://livermore.patch.com/blogs/livermore-watch
Back in the day I actually got paid to write a... some of you may be familiar with my work if you've been around that long. I wrote the Tutorial Section of the Poser 4 manual as Ian Grey, my online pseudonym back when being online and having one seemed like a good idea... I've since bailed on that notion. Spent some time up in the Seattle Area following that doing a lot of 3D freelance work, for which I got paid nicely. But the talents and skills of others far outpaced me and business went to those able to fill it better and more efficiently.
I came back to Livermore to work with Horses at my ancestral home: http://www.elivermore.com/photos/pico_bernal1.htm
That went away when we couldn't stay above water. After 113 years, my family had to give it up due to Estate Taxes.
I became a Farrier for a couple of years, but my knees went out, and I couldn't get underneath a horse, and that's how I ended up losing what little I had left.
On this forum, I've been homeless since before most of you knew of me. It is what it is. I have a job, am okay. The Police are cool with me (for crying out loud, the Mayor reads my bloody blog... :))
So, I'm doing okay, guys! Thank you so much for your thoughts and concern. And thanks, Wendy, for getting in touch!

    Christian aka wancow
(BTW wancow: it's based on one of my former client's nickname's for me... I was one of the "many Wandering Cowboys" she knew...)

Oh, must also add: I'm working on saving for a new machine with... well, something really nice that I can eventually do renders on. This Asus is over 18 months old and on it's last legs. I hope to have it by January, so maybe I can start playing around with D|S again then...
