VIctoria 4 Anatomy to Genesis 8

Hi All,

Trying to get the V4 Skeleton to fit into a Genesis 8 model

I've been following a few different threads and have seen some good V4 to Genesis to G8, but can't quite find anyone who's done the skeleton specifically.

Is it possible using this method?
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/193296/freebie-how-to-create-a-v4-clone-and-transfer-other-figures-for-g8f-now-with-video/p2

I can seem to get the V4 Skeleton into a Genesis correctly, but struggle to get it to go to a G8 from there. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Maybe this may help? https://www.daz3d.com/sy-victoria-4-and-michael-4-clones-for-genesis-8

I don't have the product, but maybe someone else could verify if it works or not.

Tried testing the skeleton turned up terrible. The humerus and femur get flattened when incorrectly ported to G8. It does fit the G8 figure, though. I just fitted the skeleton to Genesis and jumped generations (G1 -> G2 -> G3 -> G8)

Thanks! I've already spent a significant amount of money on the anatomy bundle and not too keen to roll the dice with more purchases.

Anyone have experience using this product?

I don't have access to a G2 in my DAZ any chance you could post your workflow anyway? It might help me solve the problem.

You could install the free Genesis 2 Starter Essential to get the G2 figures.

Hi Tim. I have the clones that dragonfly_2004 mentioned, and I've been fitting the skeletons and organs into figures for years: V4/M4, G, and G2. Haven't done a G8 yet (can't remember if I've done a G3). I'll see if I have a few minutes to try it tonight.

Is there something in particular you're trying to achieve?

    How fun the v4 skeleton.

This is v4 Skeleton as a wearable for Genesis 8

I fitted the v4 skeleton to genesis first then  I fitted the skeleton directly from genesis to Genesis 8 female using the autofit tool  then shut of the visibility under the display tab, then I saved it as a wearable i haven't tried the organs yet,.

I made this render using Lindsay deforce long curly hair  and some Rpublishing fades country clothing

Ivy, do you know how to fix the femur and humerus bones? Your render still has the issue with it. Will rigidity maps work?

I think there is a little twisting to the legs and upper arms during autofit because of the difference of the 2 character mesh structure. But it never bothered me because i thought it kind of it adds to the old bones look. but I would properly use the deform tool and reshape it if it was a issue for a render.

Thanks. I'll try the d-former and see if I could fix the twisting of the upper arm and thigh. I'm expecting a lot of work to fix something that already looks fine at an angle. I'll also chop off the excess thumb that protrudes or just hide it.

I always forget that G8 has clones for G1 and G2. Going from V4 -> G1 -> G8 produces less twisting compared to jumping through all generations.

Just trying to be able to expose a skeleton correctly posed beneath a female G8.

Any chance you could post exactly what you did? I tried this multiple times yesterday and wasn't able to get it to work corectly, there would always be some bones outside the body and the rigging was completely destroyed.

  • Sorry for the double post, take hours for these posts to get approved.

Figured out the workflow for anyone who comes across the thread.

    1. Add V4 Skeleton, G1 and G8 to the scene.
    2. Autofit V4 Skeleton to Genesis.
    Figure Design dropdown: Victoria 4
    Item Type: None
    3. Autofit V4 Skeleton to Genesis 8.
    Figure Design dropdown: Genesis
Item Type: None or Full body, doesn't seem to matter.

I did just discuss with someone that told me the V4 is based on G3, if thats true I can't believe the autofit figure design doesn't have a Victoria 4 listed for going V4 to G3, seems like that would actually be the shortest and best route to go but it's not possible.

Now to try fix some of this geo, keen to see if anyone has anymore tips getting this to work too.

    Hi Time

Thanks for your post. A question though. in item 3 do you mean to Autofit V4 Skeleton to Genesis 8  - OR - do you mean Autofit Genesis to Genesis 8?

    Thanks

I'd fix the femurs in Blender, or use the new Mesh Grabber product.

    Would this be possible?

Create a Genesis 8 clone for Genesis 1

Fit the skeleton to G1 and save this as a new outfit.

Dial G1 to match G8 shape. Use any morphs to adjust the legs.

Open edit>scene identification> find the prefered base setting and change it to G8.

  • As for the Twisting issues ... I have had the same issue.  my skills are alot better now since back when I tried this lol.   wouldnt it be possible to fit it to G8  then try to untwist it using the sliders save it out as a obj then import and refit ?  I might have to take a stab at this one.

  • I did pretty much what Ivy did. My starting point was the M4 skeleton, which I posed to the G8F default pose with my G8F-V4 pose transfer script. That got the pose close. Then I tweaked each and every bone so it fitted inside a G8F figure (with skin set to 25% transparency),  in pretty much the right place at pretty much the right size. This took a lot of time.

Then I saved the skeleton as an obj file. In a modeller, I deleted the handles, and saved that OBJ file. After that, imported into DS, converted the  skeleton prop to a figure, then transferred the rigging from the G8F figure, and parented to G8F. Having done that, saved the skeleton as a wearable preset.

    One resulting image is:

In that image, I posed G8F, dressed it, added hair etc, then hid the G8F figure the skeleton was parented to, and simulated the dress after hiding G8F too. A lot of faff, but fun. One word of warning, this procedure can lead to welded teeth, so the jaw won't open, and only simple poses work.

It's a distance type model, portraits are not on the cards.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Amazingly this worked, just the thumb bones are sticking out. When you open the jaws, the skeleton's teeth still are "glued together" and stretch like rubber. Do a geometry edit (ALT+SHIFT+G), look under Surfaces in Tool Settings and hide / delete the "lower teeth" and "upper teeth" polygons. The G8 head got working teeth already.

Thanks for your post, I wasted already 2 days on figuring this out! A shame the author of this fine kit doesn't update it to G8! The inner organs (apart from the breast, which needs some mesh editing) already work fine.

    1. Add V4 Skeleton, G1 and G8 to the scene.
    2. Autofit V4 Skeleton to Genesis.
    Figure Design dropdown: Victoria 4
    Item Type: None
    3. Autofit V4 Skeleton to Genesis 8.
    Figure Design dropdown: Genesis
Item Type: None or Full body, doesn't seem to matter.
