Script for duplicating an object after dforce simmed (for animations)

Is this possible to do with scripting?

I want to make a script that would allow you to duplicate an item (or just the simulated geometry of an item onto another identical item) after a dforce simulation has been applied, with the dforce simulation intact (same goes for user-defined morphs, etc.). Currently, the only way to do this (from my understanding) is to export the object and then reimport it, which is a little irritating but I guess fine for the individual shot, but I want something that would work for animations as well, e.g. it'd duplicate the geometry of every frame of the simulation, and allow me to alter the objects afterwards. "Duplicate Node(s)" doesn't copy the dforce geometry. Using nodes doesn't allow you to alter just a single instance. If there's a way to "bake" instances without losing the animation, that'd be great, but I can't figure it out.

I've edited the post so it's not a request but a question whether it's possible or not. Could you please move it back to the developer's forum? Or should I re-post the altered subject there?
