Poser lost all Ext Runtimes?

I run external runtimes from my external hardrive. Today I went to run Poser and they were all gone. Only thing there was PP2012 Content and Downloads.

I had to readd them all.

They appear to be working...

But why has this happened?

Something weird is also happening with my AVG; It has lost an option, but I don't know if they are related.

Is your external hard drive running all right? What OS are you using? I just wonder if maybe the hard drive didn't mount when you ran Poser?

    Windows 7 64bit

Additionally, I had the hardrive in another slot when I ran it the first time. But it was 'mounted' before I ran Poser. It showed up in the autoplay and I opened it, and infact installed something I had from there...

    It was a hair I didn't realize I had.

Then when I opened PP the ext runtimes were not there, so I added my runtime 'Clothes' to see if it would add. It did.

Restarted, seeing if maybe that might be the issue. Plugged the ext into it's normal spot, still, ext runtimes gone except the clothes which I had just added...

    Added them all again.

Working now it seems but wat...

I'm a bit annoyed because now they're not in their normal order anymore.

i had something like this happen a while back, in my case... i some how bumped the power cord to the external. it was still plugged in but barely, it caused all kinds of weirdness until i finally secured the plug. Yeah really, something that simple, had me ripping my hair out wondering what was going wrong

The thing is though, it's still reading the ext hardrive just..the things aren't there.

    Well, they are now.

But I was able to add them just fine with no problems really. Althoguh, I am just now rendering and idk if it's going to complain to me or not but so far so good it's loading some kind of trans map for this hair I just installed I think...

This happens if the drive with the runtimes is not accessible to Poser (not mounted correctly, for example). No need to re-import the runtimes - just shut down Poser, mount the drive or whatever is needed to make it accessible, and then restart Poser, then the runtimes will be back again.

That may be because you've started re-importing them, which will update the file with the runtime references to the current status. If you just shut down Poser like I described in my other post, the old reference file will still be intact.

If you ever really do lose them all one day e.g. this can happen when installing a new version of poser, then there is a script which is part of advanced library manager (from rdna semidieu) that puts them all back in a couple of clicks.

If the external drive wasn't assigned the same drive letter when Poser started, it wouldn't find the runtimes.

    Ah, very good point.
