Wearable vs. Character preset.

I just added a morph to an item of clothing and want to save it. Should I save it as a wearable? If not, is it still a character preset?

Wearabless ave all items parented to the base figure, and optionally save posing for the base figure. Character presets save the shape and amterial settings for the selected figure. A Wearables preset for the clothing will include any custom morphs that have not been saved as assets.

Yeah saving a Wearable Preset is nice and easy to include unsaved morphs in the clothing. You just have to remember to select the genesis figure first and in the save dialog choose which clothings, hair and what not to include with the preset.

But again its saved embedded this means the morphs will only be available with loading the Wearable Preset and not with loading the original clothes from the library or scenes where the original clothes are included.

I suggest you to use File>Save As>Support Asset>Morph Asset to have your morph available with the original clothing.

Thanks for this explanation. I've always saved clothing morphs as Morph Assets and have never really looked at what a Wearable might be. Sometimes we just stick to tried-and-tested without venturing into new areas.

What do clothing items that are actually DAZ Store clothing products in the DAz Store get saved as?

AFAIK they get saved as Figure/Prop Assets.

    File>Save As>Support Asset> Figure/Prop Asset

You save it first as a Figure/Prop Asset to get morphs written into the data directory. Then if needed the wearable presets are used for extra items to load with the clothing, ie rigid follow nodes, push modifiers, deformers or when you want to save an item colliding with something other than Genesis, or to load all the clothing items in a set with one click :)

Thanks Mada. I haven't thought about all the other stuff that can be included: rigid follow nodes, push modifiers, deformers. I guess also dFroce simmulation settings getting saved along with Wearable Presets.

    yes :)

thanks. That is pretty complicated so then rigit follow nodes doesn't sound like something exportable in an FBX format or at least not with the same properties as in DAZ Studio.

Thanks. All I want at the present time is to get it saved.

  • So then the Question is how do I save a clothing item in the scean so that I can Use it inunreal (FBX) format
