Can anyone tell me why I get "an error occurred while reading the file...see the log file for detail

Hi gang:

I recently created a bunch of new art. I had no problem saving it, but when I wanted to call it up I keep getting that same stupid message.  My security system is bitdefender, and I'm wondering if this isn't messing up my accessing my files.  I had literally no issues a few days again, and now I'm getting this nonsense.  Can anyone give me some advice, as it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and thanks

Did you save as a scene or as some kind of preset?

The log file should tell you why DS is having this problem. There are many reasons that could cause an error message like this and it's usually incorrect file paths.

  • Hi Fred:

Okay, please define incorrect file paths, and remember I'm basically an "imbecile" when it comes to tech.  The problem I'm having is that before I NEVER had this problem.  I could save a figure say Brooklyn one, put it into a folder for example PinUps, then come back to it and open it up with no problem.  Now it is literally any time I create a figure or a scene or whatever I am getting this nonesense happening.  You also mention logs, which log is this and where would I find it.  My other question is could my antivirus ware be messing up my stuff.  Any thoughts wisedome etc would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

PS this is super frustrating for me and I don't know how to proceed now

Well, I can tell you where to find your log file. Not sure about the rest of it.

    • Open Daz Studio.
    • Click on Help in the Main Menu.
    • Scroll down to and click on Troubleshooting.
    • In the fly-out menu, click on View Log File…

The log file will then open in your text editor. (It is a plain text file named log.txt.)

I hope this helps a little bit.
