Batch trouble, eyes don't point at camera

On individual renders I get the eyes to target the camera. If I close Daz and reopen, the eyes are no longer targeting the camera so I have to move the camera a bit (or zoom in and undo) and the eyes lock back into place.

I've been trying out the batch render  (https://www.daz3d.com/batch-render-for-daz-studio-4-and-rib) and the problem is that it won't lock the eyes on their target everytime it loads a file. So all my renders have eyes directed in default instead.

Any idea how to fix this ? (Other than having to cancel the target camera and pose eyes for each individual render)

Thanks !

This bug has been around for quite a while. And been ticketed. And not, to my knowledge, been fixed.

    Basically, “don’t do that.” (Sigh.)

Use the “look at” feature to figure out what the eye settings should be, then manually enter them and turn off “look at.” At least, that’s the only solution I’ve ever found.

Or, submit another ticket. Maybe we can build up some momentum on it. They did eventually fix the mouse event problems that were killing us, so maybe they’ll get to this one eventually.

    *painful sigh*

Thank you for your response. Yes, hopefully this is on their list somewhere.

The more people that put in tickets on it, the more chance they’ll feel our pain...

  • This is one of the two ongoing annoyances with look-at and eyes.  The other one is that figures of the same generation cannot trade look-ats (that is, lock eyes with each other) without DAZ crashing fairly consistently. It must be some internal endless recursive my-eye-refers-to-your-eye-which-refers-to-my-eye-etc. thing.

If you're not doing batch rendering, you can generally just do a single click nudge on one of your character's head parameters (say, "bend") and then click to nudge it back.  That seems to kick-start the look-at again, at least for me.

There is a script to do that: Look At Me Pose Control

Its a very useful script with alot of options.

    • Look at Camera
    • Look at That
    • Look at Each Other
    • Look into My Eyes

Can also turn the head-neck. Can be used for stills and animation - the biggest drawback of Point At is it can't be turned off while animating.

Thanks Syrus_Dante. I'll certainly take a "look at" that.  blush

With some figures you have to change the eye pose manually. It's just the way it is. With some figures I've never been able to get to the bottom of why I can't pose them with scripts or other settings. Even "look at" doesn't work with them because, I assume, something went wrong at morphing/rigging time.

I've had this fail as well. Upon reopening a file the eyes are no longer pointing at the camera. Moving the camera and undoing said movement brings them back. The onlu permanant solution is to manually set the eye position poses to what you need.
