it's official .. TWPUE AWARD for DAZ

Ok I just got a brand new win10 pc and I was going to download 4.11 to play with the new denoiser. Just to find out that YOU NEED TO INSTALL 4.10 FIRST TO GET 4.11 since it's not available as a standalone installer. DAZ are you insane ? I mean .. you're going to win THE WORST POSSIBLE USER EXPERIENCE AWARD here .. Really.

And I was very polite .. I held back myself.

You absolutely don't need to install 4.10 to get 4.11, where did you get that idea? All you need to install is Daz Install Manager.

You have actually bought the (free) DS Beta product? https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta And enabled Public Builds in the Install Manager Download Filters?

Thank you for your help .. Out of my ignorance I already installed 4.10 anyway. Since I always use manual install I wasn't aware that the install manager ca be installed alone without daz studio. And yes I own the beta in my assets list. So I'll give it a try.

I also do apologize for my rant above.

Since I also never used a beta before .. Does the beta also install its own postgresql, or does it share it with the official release ? I know it is safe to use the beta together with the official release, and I guess they share the content library.

If you already have 4.10 and the postgresql installed the beta uses that one. If you are installing only the beta, you need to also install postgresql.

Yes, you can use both release and beta together, that is the main reason for only giving beta access via the DIM, it ensures that beta and relase do not get into each others way.

The first time you use the beta you will need to set up your content directories and layout. Beta and release do not share preferences.

    Ciao

The beta doesn't need its own version of PostgreSQL, but it does need its own copies of plug-ins (where they support the beta) and some shaders and scripts, all of which place files in the application folder - as long as those are isntalled after the beta itself they will work, and beta updates (without a product update for the plug-in, shader, or script) will not entail another reinstall (except for the daz-branded plug-ins that come with DS, and the Dynamic Clothing Control plug-in).
