Is anyone else having installing problems with DSON Importer ?

Just wondering if I am too dumb to install it correctly so it works is why I am asking.

    What problems are you having?

    If you're using Poser9/PP2012 make sure you have SR3.1 installed
    Install the DSON Importer plug-in to the Poser application folder
    Install Genesis Starter Essentials (both the DSON Core and the PoserCF) to a writable runtime (e.g. outside of Program files).

    Great info. I see that my set up is incorrect. I go change it to what you said and see if it works for me.

    Thanks a million for this advice. You rock.

    Ok I have installed SR3.1 to my poser directory. DSON importer plug in to the Poser app folder (subdirectory)
    Install Genesis Starter Essentials to I:/ root directory

    Mmmmm, DSON core ??? Is that another program I have to download or is it in the DSON importer ?

    Here's my current error message.

    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "I:\Genesis Essentials\Content\Runtime\libraries\Character\DAZ People\Basic Child.py", line 1, in
    import dson.dzdsonimporter
    File "I:\Program Files (x86)\Smith Micro\Poser 9\Runtime\Python\addons\dson\__init__.py", line 4, in
    import dson.dzdsonimporter
    ImportError: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

    Did you install the 32-bit or 64-bit DSON Importer?
    Is your runtime listed as I:\Genesis Essentials\Content\ or just I:\Genesis Essentials\?

    DSON Core just means the other Genesis Starter Essentials file, the one that doesn't say PoserCF.

    I:\Genesis Essentials\Content\ this is how it is listed.

    Thanks for the info on DSON core is really Genesis Essentials.

    Forgot to tell you - - - - 32 bit is how I installed it.

    Do I do anything with Genesis Essentials for Poser ? (EDited: Doh, I see you said to install it in a writable place. I go do that.)
    I am wondering if this is why things don't work is that file has the pathnames ?

    Yes, you need both "Genesis Starter Essentials" and "Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF" installed.

    ok both are installed. I think we are getting closer. DSON has this error message but it leads me to believe that DSON
    is looking in the right area because it is saying the 32 bit is not valid and not saying not found.

    I installed 32 bit only so I am stumped at to why it says it can't find it.

    An errror occurred importing addon dson :
    ERROR: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

    Would rebooting the computer be helpful ?

    Ok it is all working now.

    Thinking maybe the uninstall file missed a file or two I manually deleted the area of all files.Then I reinstalled win32 DSON files
    and it works perfectly now.

    Thank you fixmypcMike for all your excellent help and guided me to a successful installation.

    Wooo hooo I got Genesis-ability now.
