This is going too far. I had a series of renders complete and almost ready to submit. I'm out.

Alexa, please get yourself back here. Please?

No one has a greater respect for you as an artist or as a person than I do. Going with the artist for now, every time I see what I believe will be my favorite piece of your work you put out another even better. This has been going on since your first submission way back when and has happened once again with your most recent - the one posted by your father. (Thank you, Kendall.) LG isn't the only one who should be feeling the heat from your talent. You have taken the Freebie Contest by storm and have become an integral part of it in the process.

Yes, the rules can be an issue from time to time. We've seen this before in previous contests but this month, for whatever reason, it has become a major problem. You've asked questions before without a problem, never as a complaint but rather for clarification. Granted some of the answers could have been worded better but you've always seemed to be satisfied with them and with the fact that the rules are somewhat fluid contest to contest. The core rules don't change but the "special" rules for each contest do. The unwritten ones should be unified so there's some agreement on them but that's up to the ubersupreme PTBs not a poor peon like me who hasn't yet hit the 10k post level yet and isn't really likely to.

We need you. You are the type of artist the freebie contests are about, the one who grows with each each month's new challenge and each entry within that challenge. Absolutely no one here doesn't enjoy, appreciate and admire your work and I can think of no one who doesn't like & care about you as a human being. So please, Alexa, reconsider and rejoin us. Please?

Looks good! Steampunk uses swords? I'm not really into Steampunk much, so I don't know the things they use. Was Firefly sort of Steampunk? I really liked that show, and the movie they made...Serenity. But more for the story and acting than for the style. To me it was science fiction and for that I'm a big fan! :-)

While technically steampunk is more of a Jules Verne-ish neo-Victorian sort of concept, it has some rather interesting and unique sidelights. Dueling was still in vogue during part of the Victorian era so a sword (actually looks more like a fencing rapier) wouldn't be out of place.

Was Firefly sort of Steampunk? I really liked that show, and the movie they made...Serenity. But more for the story and acting than for the style. To me it was science fiction and for that I'm a big fan! :-)

Firefly & Serenity were pure Joss Whedon. They were sort of Science Fiction meets Western with the usual Whedonesque flare. Considering he also created Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel & Dollhouse, there's a lot of "flare" going on. I don't have much on DVD and really don't want much but I do have Firefly & Serenity which is sort of an indication of how much I like them.

Or maybe it's an indication of having the hots for Summer Glau and Jewel Stait. ;-)

Oh, yeah. Except I forgot to include Morena Baccarin in that. :-)

Did you see the Castle episode that reunited Nathan Fillion (Castle) with Adam Baldwin (Jane on Firefly)? It was cool to see them work together again.

Yep. That was a blast. I've been following Castle from the pilot and am glad the writers finally got the happy couple together.

Speaking of which, a lot of people on the Castle Facebook page feel that will kill the series however they're just taking one small scene in one episode out of four seasons' worth. What they didn't pay attention to was the end of the Esposito-Ryan partnership and the fact that Kate resigned from the force - two endings and at least one new beginning. (Did you notice how neatly that tied in with Alexis' speech?) Actually three endings given Kate's line, "He got away and I didn't care." There have been a lot of little things since the pilot that have lead to episode 4:23 and made it obvious that there could be no other path for the writers to take without killing the series.

Something that will be interesting will be how Alexis - and to a lesser extent, Martha - will take the fact that Kate will have obviously have spent the night with Rick. Martha I think expects it. Alexis has been "Daddy's little girl" pretty much since she was born so will she see Kate as competition or team with her to keep Rick grounded? Let's see ... what else. Esposito will support Kate & Rick in any way possible as they will him - off the record, of course - while Ryan is on everyone's [bad word] list except Captain Gates' and that's tenable. There's another potential problem and that's whether or not Gates actually accepts Kate's resignation. The final scene of the episode suggests more mayhem in the future which, of course, is always good. As a once & future writer, I see a lot of interesting potential there and it'll be interesting to see how close some of my ideas are to the mark.

And, to drag this kinda sorta back on topic, anyone up to making a comic rendition of that one particularly interesting scene? :-)
