Morphing clothes and wotnot

Hi team, I've been trying to find a way to morph or "wrinkle" clothes in DS. I've looked around the forum but nothing jumps out at me as to a clear cut solution. Messed around with Blender but exporting an item as obj. and importing in to Blender loses all texture/colour and can't get it back again. Frustrating.

Anyway, I digress. the point of my post is this; I found and bought a plug in that was supposed to do the trick from ShareCG. Problem is I don't know where to install the unzipped package, so I posed the question on their forum.

Ahem!

"I have been searching for a plug-in for DAZ3D to morph clothing and have just downloaded Clothes Hanging Morph. Now, I have unzipped it but where do I locate it in DAZ3D? The ReadMe.txt file doesn't explain that"

Now I'm not complaining in any way, I realise people are busy and may not have experience of the software. But having been read 92 times, I have no replies.

Ergo, I am here again, relying on my clever-dickie colleagues. Any ideas?

What do you mean by morphing a wrinkle? I'm not entirely sure what you are wanting to do in order to tell you if a morph will do it. What is the name of the item you got at sharecg?

  • Hi Cris, thanks for the prompt reply.

I want to take say, a standard dress, or shirt from the clothing list in Studio content and be able to make it look as if it's lifted, dropped or crumpled on the floor. I can sort of do it in Photoshop with the "Liquify" tool but it's not the same and only in 2D. The software I bought from ShareCG doesn't include any objects, it's supposed to morph clothing already installed in Studio.

I hope that's enough to explain...?

I would be happy to buy any plug-in for DS that will do that.

  • Appendage; the software item is called "Cothes Hanging Morph" :)

    Why not use DForce?

Clothes Hanging Morph appears to be a morph that flattens G3F so when clothes are put on her they will follow the figure's morph and become flattened

  • Don't know what Dforce is Cris but sounds exciting, so will look at the various links. Thank you so much for your time :)

Wish me luck, I'm going in!

Are you still looking for it? It's a morph for G3F, not the clothes directly--load a figure, click on Shaping, click on Actor, and scroll to the bottom to find "Hanging Clothes."

...or better yet, load the figure, dress her, and then turn her invisible before morphing her. XD Otherwise, it looks REALLY disturbing!

when you acquire clothes, do like me
i got 4 separate libtrary,, (or more)
    - clothes
    - clothes NM
    - clothes FX
    - clothes Dforces

in main clothes i install clothes with metadata support,
in NM without metadata, or poser format
in FX i install clothes with special parameters (e:g: show breast)

Smart content not tell you about their features
in this case you can explorer easy via your content library.

i also use separate library for some category clothes  - underwear, - shock, freebies,,,

Many thanks for all this info, I will digest and act :)

So far I have been able to move clothes, after selecting, and get a kind of distortion by switching Parameters/General/Fit to Mode to Auto Follow Transforms and then use the Transform and Scale sliders. Not perfect, so I will try your suggestion

    Thanks again
